Help Interpreting DoDMERB Correspondence?

Hello,
I am a candidate for the US Naval Academy with a conditional offer of appointment(LOA). Quite a while ago, I sent in my initial medical exam, and was then requested to send several remedials, which I promptly submitted. Several weeks later, I was medically disqualified for asthma after 13. I heard nothing of the other remedials, so I had assumed that they had not disqualified me for them.

Yesterday, I logged into my DoDMERB portal to find a new entry into the log,

Waiver Question

I had a waiver request about a month ago for USMA and USNA, but I have not received any remedial request. Is this a good or bad sign, or have they not started to process my waiver yet?

DoDMERB process for ROTC scholarship winner

DS is 4 year ROTC Scholarship winner. DoDMERB med exam appointment is this week.
What is the TYPICAL process for this exam? Does the DS complete the medical forms and complete the exam and they base their decision on that OR do they request all medical records up front and base the decision on their exam and records? Just trying to get a timeline considering if they wait for all medical records to make their determination, it will be that much more of a lengthy process.

ACL Surgery Waiver

Hi,

Has anyone who has gone through the ACL surgery and received a waiver provide any insight on the waiver process/how "easy"/how long it is to receive
I had my surgery in March 2017 - no pain and leg is stable. Any success stories/issues along the way would be really appreciated.
Thanks!

Is there a "general" timeline after 'medical data entry' to expect status change?

entries in dodmerb have changed and the latest says "medical data entry" (meaning exams received and data entered into DODMERB) - wondering what a generalized timeline is for overall status update might be - still showing "under dodmerb review" -- Not too concerned; exams were pretty straightforward and uneventful - more just curious. Thanks!

Qualified?

Hi all
I was notified today that DODMERB has found me qualified for my Marine NROTC program. However, during the eye exam I remember the optometrist saying I was near sighted and needed glasses (my civilian doctor disagreed, but that isn't as important). When DODMERB says I am qualified, does that mean that I won't need glasses for NROTC, or just that my eyesight isn't bad enough to have been a DQ? Thanks in advance, and good luck to everyone waiting to hear back.

Has anyone heard about what service academies will typically do for someone with Eustachian tube dysfunction. Is is commonly waived or do most people end up having to get surgery for it?

Hi there - this is my first post on this forum. I have learned a lot by reading through various threads. I am reaching out to anyone who could help... My son is a sophomore in High School with good SAT scores, good academics overall.

He was diagnosed with mild asthma around age 6 or 7 and has had allergy shots for about the last 5 years. He has been prescribed various medications over the years including albuterol, Zyrtec, pulmocort and others, which he takes as needed - which, except...

AFA Admissions

DS was DQ'd for allergies but we have worked through the issue. We sent updated information which changed his status to Pending Waiver/Submission back in the fall. We understand that the academy will request waiver if they deem he is competitive. DS has a solid plan B. Last night he received a couple of text messages from admissions and one reminded him to work through his DQ. We thought this was weird. Any thoughts?

Waiver for 'mood disorder'

Ughhh...so, our student was accepted to the Academy, has a nomination, etc. but learned that she has been medically disqualified due to a 'mood disorder.' History is that she did discuss concerns with her mood (i.e. some anxiety with school, social situations) with her pediatricians (twice) in the past 18-24 months. About a year ago, she did a brief trial on medication (low dose of Zoloft--or other similar med) for a few months and decided that she wanted to go off the medication because she...

LOOOOOOONG story short. I am prior service who was diagnosed with adjustment disorder through the VA(after separation). I never thought I had adjustment disorder, and I never claimed to. I just knew I was dealing with alot in my life and the VA had me sit down with someone. After I found out my diagnosis I went through the long and painful process of getting my diagnosis overturned. I then paid back the VA what I needed to, and have no diagnosis. After undergrad I applied to OCS and thought...

Anyone else having trouble logging into DoDMERB today? I got an email saying I have a new correspondence, but when I went to login it said I didn't even have a file. Is the site just down or does this mean I got rejected?

Is there a cut off when they decide to stop requesting waivers and has that passed. I need to get one but my medical status hasn't changed.

How can someone go from Medically Qualified to a Remedial?

A quick question from anyone out here who is familiar with why a candidate could go from "Fully Medically Qualified for Ascension" to "Not Qualified/Remedial"? Nothing new has been submitted, and nothing with DS's status has changed. A waiver was initiated about a month ago, but was cleared by DoDMERB after submission of additional evidence. Now DoDMERB, or someone is asking for remedial information. This is not right, they should have asked for this a month ago, now DS's entire future...

Bilateral Ear Surgery

Hello!
And so glad to have found this forum! DD is a freshman in HS and very, very interested in attending USMA (she is also an athlete, hoping for recruitment.) As a toddler she had tubes placed in her ear with one being more permanent - which has to be removed. We were referred to an Ear Surgery Specialist due to her abnormally small ear canals. After assessment she was diagnosed with mild conductive hearing loss - which they believe is due to the tube in the one ear. She also has a small...

psoriasis Waiver

Hi I was just awarded a NROTC Scholarship and just found out that I had psoriasis when I was 12, let me note it has been gone since then. It was kind of a freak thing and it may of not even of been psoriasis. It has never came back and I had to deal with the stresses of a new high school and a couple of breakups so it seems like it’s gone. Will I be DQ’d?

Concussions and Flying

So I heard that if you had a concussion at any point in your life, then you aren't allowed to fly (commission into the aviation community) because of risk of something happening due to a more 'sensitive brain' per say.

Is this true?

(applying to USNA and USAFA and want to fly)

Possible Disqualifications?

Wondering about possible disqualifications from DODMERB for USMA. Answers to these situations would be appreciated.

1. I went through a period in middle school where I pulled out my eyelashes, and my doctor recommended me to see a therapist, so my mom scheduled an appointment with one. After thinking about it, I never actually went to see them/do the appointment. I don’t think we sent in any personal information about me to them, besides names and such. Would I have to answer that I saw a...
