waiver for crohn's disease

Has anyone ever heard of a waiver being granted for (D161.40) History of regional enteritis (Crohn's disease)? My son has a conditional appointment to the USMMA with the exception of his medical. He had this initial condition when in 7th grade. He was on medication to prevent flare ups for 2 years. He has since been flare and medication free his entire high school career. He wrestles and played varsity soccer. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

confusion??

My USAFA portal says "complete but medically diswualified." And DODMERB still says "pending waiver review/submission." However, I'm confused because I recieved single disqualifications in addition to a remedial. This is what it displays:
06-Nov-18 Date exam reviewed
08-Nov-18 Date letter sent - Single Disqualification
08-Nov-18 Date letter sent - Remedial(s) with clin Remedial(s)

What does the remedial mean? That I'm being considered for a waiver? The single disqualifications are different...

USMA waiver question

The post on application portal for USMA says 90 day process for waivers. Can waivers be completed before 90 days or do I have to wait the full 90 days?

I was medically DQ'ed by DoDMERB early on the application process. It was really frustrating because everything that they claimed I had, I didn't. When I was in my physical exam I even stated that I did not have these medical issues. Thankfully I was able to get a waiver to USAFA and I'm fairly competitive. I'm currently waiting to be granted a waiver by USMA and USNA. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Mr. Larry Mullen

Hi,

I found a discussion from 2008 talking about Mr. Larry Mullen.
Does anyone know if he still answers questions?
I didn't want to just email him not knowing if he still works in DODMERB because I emailed a lady that the DODMERB website showed me, and she was not very happy that I was emailing her when she stopped working for DODMERB.
Thank you in advance to any responses:)

Remedial and private physician

Has anyone used a private physician for your remedial as opposed to the a doctor assigned from Dodmets? The closest doctor Dodmets found is about 2 hours from my house. The website says you can go to a private physician but how does Dodmets get the records from that doctor? Am I supposed to get copies of the medical records before I leave the appointment and send to Dodmets or does the doctor send something directly to Dodmets? Can anyone tell me how it works with a private physician?

Nut allergy DQ?

My DD was awarded AROTC/Nursing scholarship. BUT she has a history of a mild tree nut allergy/sensitivity. Mild, takes benadryl if needed. But is this an automatic DQ at her physical? Even for staff corps who will always be in a medical setting? We were so disappointed to read this on this forum. Passing an oral challenge is the only way to be cleared? And what exactly is a pass on an oral challenge test?? No symptoms at all? This has been her dream.

I am applying to both the Naval Academy and Military Academy for the class of 2012. I have already been "academically and physically qualified" for both academies. I have a senator's nomination to the naval academy and am working on another congressional nomination to usma. My only hang up is medical. I had 2 lumbar stress fractures that i received playing football and wrestling during my junior year. For two months, I wore a brace and then did physical therapy until i regained the strength...

We've read the waiver timeframe post above, lots of posts about waivers on this page, and the info on waivers on the DodMERB website so now we're just looking for confirmation of our understanding and maybe answers to questions that probably no one actually would know the answer to...

DoDMERB portal for both USNA and USAFA says: Pending Waiver Submission/Review since December 28th.

USAFA admissions portal Application Status says: Complete but Medically Disqualified and then in the section...

Potential Pilot Qualified (PPQ)

Is there anyway to check if I am potential pilot qualified on the DoDMERB site or USAFA/AFROTC sites?

There are some other threads about this, and they say that if your status is "commission qualified" you are NOT PPQ. But they are a few years old, and things may have changed.

My DODMERB status is "Qualified", but it says nothing about pilot. As far as I know (for AFROTC at least) you can't even compete for a pilot slot if your DODMERB isn't PPQ.

Thanks everyone!

I am requiring a waiver for usna and was wondering if waivers were still being given out and when the cut off date is for candidates to recieve a waiver. I have been CPR since early january and have been medically DQ'd since about the same time. Is this long without hearing something a bad thing?

I was wrongly diagnosed with asthma a few years ago and I'm currently working with my doctor to get these records off my files, but it's still currently on my files. Basically, I just had trouble breathing in the spring due to allergies (never any wheezing {only when I was really sick} or coughing/asthma attacks). And with exercise, I've just been out of shape. As soon as I started running consistently, I was perfectly fine. I've taken albuterol and it's never really helped at all.

How does...

Could I do ROTC after being DQ’d from OCS?

LOOOOOOONG story short. I am prior service who was diagnosed with adjustment disorder through the VA(after separation). After I found out my diagnosis I went through the long and painful process of getting my diagnosis overturned. I then paid back the VA what I needed to, and have no diagnosis. After undergrad I applied to OCS and thought I’d make it right through, but didn’t. Was disqualified and just learned my waiver was not approved. Based on the DODI I don’t believe I should be...

MS3 torn PCL/MCL/Meniscus

I am an MS3 in AROTC on a 3-YR AD Scholarship and recently tore my PCL, MCL, and Meniscus. We are already assuming I am going to be an End of Camp Commissionee (Summer 2020), but first I have to be cleared by DODMERB. The PCL, from what my doctor has informed me, cannot be fully repaired, but operations can be done to do some damage control depending on the extent of the tear. So if I dont get the surgery I would fall under D223.8 (History of uncorrected anterior or posterior cruciate...

Hello,

I just checked my DoDMERB and it states Does Not Meet Medical Standards. Am I out of the game? Additionally, it doesn't specify any Disqualification codes.

I recently have been offered an AROTC scholarship and am now focusing on my next obstacle which is DODMERB. Is there a detailed list of all the conditions that would disqualify you from serving? My friend was recently disqualified for having flat feet, which I didn't know you could be disqualified for.

If I am over the weight limit for the Army?

So I received the AROTC 4-year scholarship and am going to Vanderbilt next year, and am currently scheduling my DoDMERB exams; however, I am a couple pounds over the Army's weight vs height limit. Will this prevent me from being able to go on scholarship? Will I be ineligible to receive my scholarship just because I'm a few lbs over the limit? I'm not even fat.

How long does the DODMERB medical status review takes?

I am currently an MS3 at my university and I am nearing the end of my contracting process. I have completed and signed all of the paperwork that I needed to I am just waiting to hear back on my medical. I enlisted through MEPS and used my physical from OCT 2017. My recruiting officer sent my medical off literally a little over a month ago now. He informed me that he had it "fast-tracked" when he sent it up. I am just curious and would love to hear some feedback regarding how long it took...
