Waiver Denied

Heartbreaking news today. My DS got an LOE, was sent a "2Q" letter and got a MOC nomination. Unfortunately, he got a DQ for taking ADHD medicine, which was ended by the doctor 15 months ago. His doctor wrote a letter stating that he's been off the medicine because there were no longer any symptoms and he is confident he does not have ADHD any longer. The school wrote a letter stating that he never had extra time for testing or any accommodations.

The Field Regional Commander was nice...

My DS checked his AROTC Portal and it shows under the medical "no waiver needed". What does this mean? Is he medically cleared or is something else going on?

Colonoscopy DQ?

Hey guys,

I had a colonoscopy done last year to see if there were any issues from be complaining about prolonged stomach pain. They did not find anything but I am still concerned having this on my records could raise some eyebrows when they review my history. Is this something I should worry about or am I just over concerned?

Waiver Pending Review...but not documentation requested

DS was DQ bc of previous shoulder surgery 1.5 years ago. He is a college re-applicant, does ROTC, and plays club hockey. His portal just changed to “Waiver Pending Review” and there was a letter on his USMA portal from his regional commander saying he is a strong candidate and they are having the surgeon review his medical file. It also says it could take 90 days and that a small number of waivers are given. So more of the waiting game. Last year is just stayed at “Pending Waiver Review “...

The waiting is tough and I wonder if my son needs to do anything to try and push it along.

Key dates
1. As part of his USNA application, her was DQ'ed (childhood asthma) back in September
2. Additional records - including the results of a range of breathing tests with a former Navy doc were sent in in November
3. Right before Christmas he was selected for An ROTC-MO scholarship.

In early Jan his DODMERB portal was updated to reflect the NROTC-MO scholarship. What is bugging me is that...

DODMERB...blank?

I checked my DODMERB status this morning when I came up the normal screen...but everything was blank. All that was listed was my timeline and SSN. Should I be worried or is this normal? Prior to this, my status was listed as "pending waiver submission/review" for USAFA class of 2023. Thanks in advance!

So my DS went thru the DoDMERB process where he was initially DQ's. While he was DQ's, West Point granted him a waiver. DoDMERB then reversed the DQ's to Qualified for the other SA's after my request to review the file with supplemental information. He now blessed appointments and also very generous scholarship that includes all tuition, expense, stipend, summer interns, and guaranteed job after graduation. I check my DODMERB status everyday because I just completed my remedial.
Today, I wasnt able to get on it so I was wondering if that's just me.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Since the website is down, I've been trying to find the phone number and contact information but can't find it anywhere. Does anyone have this information? Also, will they be notified of a waiver decision before the official letter is mailed to the candidate?

Can a single level microdiscectomy be waived at the USMA? Surgery was over 2 years with no further issues.

Hello all. I recently received an appointment to USAFA with hopes of being a pilot. Being an older brother, I asked my younger brother what my he would like to do for high school and he said piloting as well. My question, due to his ADHD for several years and taking medication for his ADHD, is it possible for him to have a medical waiver in order to attend USAFA or become PQ if he did the ROTC route?

I have a question regarding milk allergies and it's relatively simple... is it waiverable? I can have foods like chocolate chip cookies and eggs with milk, even buttermilk, butter, and other things oddly enough, but I can't drink or eat a heavy amount of dairy. I'm NOT lactose intolerant, I am indeed allergic. I was wondering if there has been anybody with previous experience in this. My DS is waiting for a Waiver that was submitted last week for a knee issue that really isn't a knee issue but the wrong buzzword by the doc triggered a DQ. He is hoping for USMA. does anyone have any ideas of the current waiver timeframe? He has a 4 yr ROTC Scholarship that is good to go (no medical issues) but the college wants to have his decision by the end of April. Is this time frame possible? I have received a four year rotc nursing scholarship and am waiting for my exam. I had ACL reconstruction over a year ago and am completely healed/ released for activity. I'm a 16 year old sophomore looking to go to West Point. I've been diagnosed with ADD and anxiety, and I've taken meds for both. I don't take meds for ADD anymore and I've been able to maintain my grades (A range with Honors classes) and I'm looking to get off the anxiety medication very soon. What are my chances of getting a medical waiver for West Point?

DODMERB - rebuttal of disqualification

Any advice on forming a rebuttal to DODMERB - ROTC scholarship has been offered, on the DODMERB a waiver has been submitted for scoliosis of 31 degrees. Disqualification is at 30 degrees. Nothing holding this candidate back - AMI and MRI submitted. Scoliosis is in check and growth has been completed. Thank you.
