Potential Pilot Qualified (PPQ)

Is there anyway to check if I am potential pilot qualified on the DoDMERB site or USAFA/AFROTC sites?

There are some other threads about this, and they say that if your status is "commission qualified" you are NOT PPQ. But they are a few years old, and things may have changed.

My DODMERB status is "Qualified", but it says nothing about pilot. As far as I know (for AFROTC at least) you can't even compete for a pilot slot if your DODMERB isn't PPQ.

Thanks everyone!

Any advice on forming a rebuttal to DODMERB - ROTC scholarship has been offered, on the DODMERB a waiver has been submitted for scoliosis of 31 degrees. Disqualification is at 30 degrees. Nothing holding this candidate back - AMI and MRI submitted. Scoliosis is in check and growth has been completed. Thank you.

ARMY ROTC Astigmatism

Hello, I recently did all of the requested steps for my waiver to be submitted. I just want to know my chances of actually receiving it; my records show my left and right cylindrical parts of my eye have a 3.25 and 3.50 astigmatism. This is over the requirements which is a 3.0 for Army ROTC. If anyone could provide any info to ease my mind, or give me educated insight of my chances of getting a dq, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Private Doctor for Exam?

Hi all
Concorde has me assigned to a doctor and optometrist that are both over an hour away in opposite directions. With our insurance, a regular doctor's appointment is incredibly cheap, and my mother doesn't want me to miss a full day or two days of school for the appointments. I have requested a change through DODMETS, but I was wondering if I would be allowed to just go to my regular doctor and optometrist if I paid for it myself, since they know me well and would be able to understand...

How bad are my chances hurt at USNA 2023?

After over 4 weeks of waiting for DODMERB to update my account after they received my exams, I got back that I was not medically qualified but that a remedial was requested for hospital records about when I was very sick and was told that I might have meningitis. The doctor said that I possibly could have had it but didn't do a spinal tap since I was already recovering. This was also 2 years ago. I also received word that there were 4 other waivers I needed. They are as follows:

Who Decides Waivers?

Hello. I have been conditionally awarded a 4 year Army ROTC scholarship contingent upon me passing the DODMERB process. I have taken my exams and am waiting on the case results to be uploaded onto the DODMERB site. I am anticipating having at least one or two things that will require a waiver. My question is who decides whether or not to grant an individual a waiver? Is it the individual ROTC program at the school, or is there a larger authority that evaluates all waiver cases? Thank you.

I am seeking help on thinking through a DoDMERB scenario.
Background:
-Received LOA beginning of Sept. 2018 for SA #1
-Received medical waiver from SA #1 beginning of October 2018
-Received medical waiver from SA #2 near end of October 2018
-Received ROTC scholarship beginning of November of 2018
Since the SA nomination interviews would not start until after the deadline given to accept scholarship and scholarship information indicated I could decline later, I accepted the scholarship. Of...

Status shows Remedial, but now date changed???

I am very confused and concerned. We were asked to submit AMI for DS file regarding a mild concussion he sustained during the soccer season. We submitted the requested files immediately, it's been a month now. The status in his USMA portal showed REMEDIAL with a date of 12/8/18 for the longest time. Now it shows REMEDIAL still, but with a date of 1/2/19?? So did someone look at his file again but somehow they haven't received the paperwork we sent? Is the holdup on the DoDMERB end? To make...

My DS was medically disqualified and a medical waiver was requested by both USAFA and AFROTC. (The issue was knee pain in the spring and summer which never stopped him from competing in varsity level track and cross country.) Of course the waiting is hard but both USAFA and AFROTC said that DoDMERB will be updating the status in the portal so that he can schedule an appointment for a followup within 3 or 4 days. It has been since 12/26 and 1/3 and there are no updates in DoDMERB and the...

I can't believe I'm already asking this question

But I need to control expectations. DD has been interested in the academies for years, and she's only in 8th grade. She's a competitive distance runner who was diagnosed with exercise induced asthma when we noticed she had begun wheezing when running at the highest levels. Even without an inhaler, she would pass any military mile test with flying colors. She doesn't need an inhaler for normal exercise. We wouldn't even know about this or it be on her medical record if she wasn't an...

Hello, I would like to do AFROTC and possibly even enlist in the air reserves beforehand. Unfortunately I was prescribed an inhaler for exercise induced asthma until 16. I believe I could’ve stopped it earlier but never quite did. I no longer need an inhaler or show any symptoms for over a year. I’m just curious what my chances are of successfully getting a waiver? Also is it off table to neglect to tell them, I’ve read that may eventually they’ll find out so it’s not encouraged? Should I...

I'm a sophomore in high school right now and I take medicine for ADD and anxiety. I'm trying to get off the anxiety medication and my ADD is pretty minor so I think I can get off that too. If I was to get off medication by the end of this school year, would I still be able to attend West Point?

Good afternoon... I am looking for some advice from those that may be close to the process or gone through the process. My DS is a candidate to all of the SA's (except for USAFA). He received MOC (VA) nominations to USMA, USNA, and USMMA. He completed his DODMERB physical with the result of several remedials and a DQ. It is the DQ which I have a question about.

My son wears CRT lenses at night (think hard contact lenses). The CRT reshapes his cornea while he sleeps and he pulls them...

Possible Remedial or?

Finished my DODMERB exams today and my DODMETS status got moved to complete, meaning its being reviewed. I had Seasonal Wheezing from ages 11-13, but my parents always had me keep an inhaler filled(last one being filled over a year ago), and obvious they kept expiring after I wouldn't use them so we would throw them out etc. The doctor didn't say anything, but will I have to go do a remedial Methacholine Challenge, or will it be more of a Send Medical records and have your PCP sign off that...

I went to a recruiter today and he said I can't get into the military since I have Hoshimotos disease and therefore require medication. I've heard different things from different people and don't know what to believe. Does anyone here know anything about getting in when you need medication?

Got a letter from Bureau of Medicine and Surgery stating a waiver recommendation cannot be determined at this time due to the need more information. So basically requesting medical records. Is this a good thing? Luckily retrieved letter before Dodmerb went down. Sent records to person at Dodmerb. She then forwarded to Chief Operations Branch Department of Defense Review Board and she replied we will get this processed as soon as possible.

Confused. Who reviews records, assume uploaded...

Hi I need help with getting medical waiver for my son. He's applying for USMA, got principal nomination, qualified for academically and physically. He has been disqualified for food allegy and chronic urticaria. He had history of nut allegies but they are mostly gone now. He's been having immuno therapy for past 4 years and it completes on Aug 2020. We saw his allegy doctor in December and got a letter that he's allegy conditions are resolved, has met minimum therapy of 3 years but...

Timetable after "Under Review"

For those waiting on their portal responses, after the "under review" is posted it only took 3 days for confirmation of either being qualified or not-qualified.

I must admit, it was faster than I had thought but longer than I would have liked. Seems about normal with the military though.
