Hello, I would like to do AFROTC and possibly even enlist in the air reserves beforehand. Unfortunately I was prescribed an inhaler for exercise induced asthma until 16. I believe I could’ve stopped it earlier but never quite did. I no longer need an inhaler or show any symptoms for over a year. I’m just curious what my chances are of successfully getting a waiver? Also is it off table to neglect to tell them, I’ve read that may eventually they’ll find out so it’s not encouraged? Should I...

My DS has his appointment for DoDMERB – DoDMETS next week but just received a letter of denial for his nomination. We aren't sure if he should keep is appointments. Does anyone have any advice on what to do next?

I finished my application and submitted it to USNA last month, but I couldn’t schedule a physical until 1/21/19. The deadline for USNA is 1/31. Does the DODMERB have to be completed and cleared by that date as well ?

Been selected for nrotc mo and have to complete dodmerb exam in the near future. Wanted to see if anyone had experience with a DQ for GERD. I was diagnosed with GERD about a year back and took medication for a month and haven’t had any issues since. Based off Dodmerb 6130.03

1) History of Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease, with complications, including, but not limited to:
(a) Stricture.
(b) Dysphagia.
(c) Recurrent symptoms or esophagitis despite maintenance medication.

I recently took my DODMerb and i'm just wondering to see if I should be okay.

I do have correctable 20/20 vision (I wear glasses) and I checked off yes for "X-Ray" (Invisalign for teeth)

I'm sure I'll be okay but I just want to hear your insights.

So I’m in AFROTC and got a remedial because I put that I was told I had double vision when I first got contacts or so I thought. When I went to my optometrist they said they had no record of me having it and I also don’t believe I do. I went back and forth with dodmerb because they kept saying my vision records were too blurry to read and I finally got a very clear copy and my dodmerb advisor said it was good. Is there a "general" timeline after 'medical data entry' to expect status change?

entries in dodmerb have changed and the latest says "medical data entry" (meaning exams received and data entered into DODMERB) - wondering what a generalized timeline is for overall status update might be - still showing "under dodmerb review" -- Not too concerned; exams were pretty straightforward and uneventful - more just curious. Rhinoplasty disqualifying?

I have already completed and passed my DoDMERB exam and am medically qualified for USAFA. A few years ago, my doctor said that I could potentially be able to get a rhinoplasty (nose job) to help fix a hump on my nose (baseball injury but not severe). I did not withhold any info from DoDMERB on my form, as I hadn't had any treatment for the nose at time of exam. I was wondering if having this surgery would be a disqualification for appointment or, in the future, pilot qualification? Couldn't...

I am very confused and concerned. We were asked to submit AMI for DS file regarding a mild concussion he sustained during the soccer season. We submitted the requested files immediately, it's been a month now. The status in his USMA portal showed REMEDIAL with a date of 12/8/18 for the longest time. Now it shows REMEDIAL still, but with a date of 1/2/19?? So did someone look at his file again but somehow they haven't received the paperwork we sent? Is the holdup on the DoDMERB end? To make...

I went on DoDMERB this morning and noticed for USMA that I “Did not meet medical standards.” There is not DQ code, but based off of the remedials I would assume it was cystic acne. It went away a while ago.
Does anyone know if this is waiverable?

Two Questions about NROTC-MO and Waiver Process

Was DQ'ed for childhood asthma several months ago. Received NROTC-MO scholarship offer right before Christmas. Two questions.

1. Is there any downside to mentioning to the need for a waiver to my contact (Executive Officer) at the recruiting center?

2. Do I need to do anything affirmative to kick off the waiver process? I thought it was automatic - but my DODMERB status hasn't changed in anyway.

I was supposed to have my medical examination today on 1/10, but it has now been postponed to 2/5. When is the deadline for the medical exams, because I know by then all the applications to the service academies will be due. Thanks

DQ - Hearing HELP!!

DS was disqualified for "Hearing Loss Exceeding Accession Standard". Anyone know what the standard is. We are waiting for medical records to see what original exam said. Very annoyed because at test there was some confusion and the examiner said not to worry. My son hesitated on part of the test. Well now we have a DQ.

To top it off I have two kids now with DQ. This process is going to push me over the edge. One is a junior in ROTC and my new DQ applying to service academy.

Proactive or be patient and wait

We just learned our son would need a waiver for his hypospadias and subsequent fistula repair. He had both surgically corrected while a very small child. Do we need to be proactive and start with an appointment with a urologist? Getting an appointment can involve a several month wait. Or do we just wait and chill for a bit? We have already submitted all medical records pertaining to this. He has had no treatment for this for well over ten or twelve years. I find it hard to believe he...

Single DQ to DQ rebuttal?

My DD was DQd for history of psoriasis.
She was notified by USMA and USAFA that they were submitting her for a waiver. Today on her DoDMERB current medical status it says:
USMA—under DoDMERB review (again)
USAFA—pending waiver submission/review.

Both had previously said DQ.
Anyone know the difference?


Also, there’s notice of a letter dated/sent Dec 15 called Disqualification Rebuttal/new medical info required. Is this a notification of a waiver request? We have not received a letter...

I just saw this on my son's file:

Our Concorde case managers have identified some errors in your examination records. We are working to resolve these issues with your Providers.
No additional action is required on your behalf

His file was update on Jan 12th. Anyone know what this means and what type of errors there could be?

USMA does not have my DODMERB results.

My application for USMA is telling me to schedule my medical exam. I completed the exam on 2 November, and USNA has already received the report and I am qualified. I contacted my admissions officer on 20 December. He contacted another officer at West Point asking her to request the results from USNA. My application still says,

WHAT IT MEANS: DODMERB ready to be scheduled

USMA does not have my DODMERB results.
