I am still waiting on the status of my waiver for astigmatism.

The fall semester is nearing fast and this scholarship is my means of paying for my education.

Does anyone have any information on the likeliness of my waiver getting approved

I was DQ'd for Astigmatism exceeding 3.00 diopters

Both my eyes are correctable to 20/20
My astigmatism is at 3.75 and 4.00

Thanks in advanced

DD is in the middle of addressing multiple AMIs for the Marine Corps ROTC program, and got yet another letter generated by DoDMERB today, but can't access it because the DoDMERB website says it's down for maintenance! For 16 days!!!! How can she expeditiously get them the information they need when she can't even find out what they need? Maybe they will just clear it all up at indoc Great Lakes sector when she's there 22/July- 04/Aug. Anyone else in this position?

Medical Survey - Question 77

Can someone help me with how this questions should be interpreted

Consulted, or been treated by clinics, hospitals, physicians, healers, or other practitioners for other than minor illnesses?

In particular - if I have already fully described a particular doctor or hospital in some other survey item detailed response - do I have to mention that same doc again in the detailed response to this question. Seems like a lot of potential duplication.

DodMerb is down until 7/29

Finally got remedial request. I was worried the DQ was it. I am hoping its a good sign for me that they are asking for more information, because I believe my medical records will help. Their website is down for maintenance. Any idea how to submit medical or just wait until the 29th?

What are they looking on a remedial request for medical records and a personal statement Is the personal statement a plea for a waiver. It says a personal statement detailing your DQ within last five years

Maybe I am paranoid - but this DoDMERB process seems to be fraught with risk of screwing up with big consequences. My son had a few health issues as a young kid. None of them should - I believe - be disqualifying - but I want to make sure we don't inadvertently put something in our survey response that cause headaches or heartaches down the road.

I heard that there some people out there that are paid to provide advice on how to complete these forms. Is that true? Does anyone have...

I'm currently active duty trying to pursue the green to gold non scholarship option. I received a corrective eye surgery (ICL) in January 2017 while I was in the army by a army surgeon at a army hospital. Keep in mind my vision was fine and correctable 20/20 before and I only got the surgery because it was available to me. For this reason I was DQ'd. Since the surgery I've been cleared for all duty including airborne. All of my packet is complete besides this physical. I've been accepted...

I’m quite interested in aviation. I had a surgery two years ago to correct my strabismus and I now have 20/20 vision and perfect depth perception. I know the navy has me DQ’d for aviation but what about the other branches? Thank you!!!

Proactive testing for allergy to a medicine as a baby?

DS #2 may decide to apply to service academies/ROTC, he is entering Junior year. A question: being through it all with DS #1, a '22 appointee, I am wondering if it makes sense to try and remedy a diagnosis that we had with him as an infant. An 'allergy' or 'reaction' to amoxicillin. At the time, he had a reaction to both amoxicillin and zithromax, but has since had zithromax and not reacted. So im wondering if that will also be an issue.

Any advice? Im trying to be proactive. I also...

Got a letter from Bureau of Medicine and Surgery stating a waiver recommendation cannot be determined at this time due to the need more information. So basically requesting medical records. Is this a good thing? Luckily retrieved letter before Dodmerb went down. Sent records to person at Dodmerb. She then forwarded to Chief Operations Branch Department of Defense Review Board and she replied we will get this processed as soon as possible.

Confused. Who reviews records, assume uploaded...

Flying Class I- AFROTC

Hey everyone!

So I have been selected for pilot training and will be heading down to Wright Patt for my flight physical in October. I have a few questions, and pardon me if they have been asked and answered before. I will list a bunch of my "ailments" and if someone could please give me a little peace of mind before I leave that would be wonderful.

1. I had my appendix removed at age three, no complications.
2. I get what are called "Tonsil Stones" and they come and go, I hear they are...

Possibly Disqualifying Medical Conditions. Could I be a Pilot?

Hi everyone,

I have wanted to be a navy pilot for quite a bit of time now but I have two possibly disqualifying conditions. I have seasonal allergies in April and May which are well controlled with Singulair and Allegra, neither medication causes any side effects. I also have mild atopic dermatitis on my hands which is asymptomatic except for dry skin, no itching, which is well controlled during flare ups with OTC moisture. I have found mixed information on if these are waiverable or if...

Our son has been in the application process for over a week now and we were advised of this forum for questions we may have moving forward. So, here is our question after reading several threads regarding the waiver and DQ steps; is there is a specific curvature of scoliosis that is an absolute fixed number for DQ? He is and has always has been very athletic and still participates without any setbacks in HS varsity sports (basketball, XC, golf, martial arts). His curvatures are more than 20...

Physical while on "my days"?

I already scheduled my physical but I will be getting out of my period (on my fourth day) the day of my physical and recently read the special recommendations for women in the FAQ and reads that I should "avoid" scheduling the physical 5 days before or after my period. Should I try to cancel and re schedule? Problem is I will not be able to give a 24 hr period for cancelation and I also worry that might be a problem.

What a dilemma. Thank you for your answers.

Should have checked NO!!!

do you always submit medical records at some point during process or is it all based on how you answer questionnaire whether they want them or not. I can't imagine they take your word for it

Waiver denied/AFROTC... what to do?

My DS applied to USNA his senior year of high school and had the DoDMERB exam in the process. He had no medical issues addressed in the exam. However, when listing medications, he reported triamcinolone cream that he had filled only once about a year before. He had been seen by a dermatologist for a separate (non-disqualifying) issue and brought up a small, dry patch of skin on his arm that was diagnosed as eczema and given the cream. DS was DQ for atopic dermatitis after the 12th birthday....

My DS has his DODMERB exam in the morning. While he was printing off his question package I noticed on the physician instructions -Urinalysis- "Stick test". Is this the or glucose/ protein read? He is in the middle of summer baseball and is either practicing or playing most everyday. If he refuses the urinalysis, or politely tell the physician that a urinalysis is no longer needed, could it cause his file to show incomplete or a refusal to the DODMERB officials? Has anyone had their DS/DD...

How does the medical turnback work?

What if a child is turned back at I day or during BCT? How does that work? Do they get to "automatically" return with the next class as long as they are medically qualified or do you have to go through the whole process again? What types of things do they do at the I day physical? My son is showing some signs of a sore knee from all of the working out. Could this be a reason to turn him back at I day or during BCT? This is making me really nervous now as he doesn't have any back up plan. He...
