History of shoulder subluxation waiver

I have been DQ'd for history of shoulder subluxation. Has anyone ever gotten a waiver for this/heard of someone receiving a waiver for this?

I have fully recovered from the injury and it happened last October, so a little bit less than a year ago.

Being Dishonest at DODMERB

My son and several of his friends (they will be seniors this year) have applied for both ROTC scholarships and service academy nominations. He has one friend in particular who is planning on withholding pertinent info. from DODMERB. She has a history of ADD and has been on/off meds for over ten years. She has been off them for good the past 6 months. She also was treated with Accutane for acne last year, and isn't planning on disclosing this as well, as she fears if she sends in her...

Spinal cord tumor - DQ? Not waiverable?

My son is in 11th grade and has been planning to apply to USNA. He was injured during football practice in August and within a week's time was diagnosed and scheduled for surgery to remove a tumor on his spinal cord in his neck. Surgery was three weeks ago and he is recovering well, but still hasn't regained all the feeling/dexterity in his left arm and leg. Still waiting for the pathology report, which could still take several weeks as these type of tumors are rare, so we don't know if any...

Depth Perception - Did I Fail?

I had my eye exam yesterday and everything went well until the end of the appointment when I was tested for depth perception. I was given a book and glasses and asked to identify the shape which popped out in ten different boxes. I was able to easily identify the first 5, but the remaining 5 were nearly impossible to see. I guessed for most of these, and at best I answered 7/10 correctly.

I was very confused by this, I asked the optometrist if I failed, and she said that she could not tell...

DoDMERB Questions

I'm interested in participating in AFROTC next fall. However, I have a few medical concerns for the DoDMERB. My first question is are bunions disqualifying? And if so, if I were to have surgery would that remove the disqualification? Secondly, I have an astigmatism and was wondering what the max astigmatism requirements are. Also, I had ear tuber when I was about 4. Would this disqualify me?

Strabismus - Esotropia

Good Afternoon, My DS had his DoDMERB medical and eye exam in August. He was disqualified for Strabismus-esotropia. He is 17 years old and I had never noticed the condition. Actually, he has never been to an eye doctor in his life and the only eye test he has ever had was for his drivers license. I was shocked that after his eye exam that he has a lazy left eye. His vision is 20/20 with no astigmatism. He is currently Pending waiver review was all the academies. Is this condition waiverable?...

AFROTC with Asthma

Hello,

I am currently a part of my university's Air Force ROTC program as a first year student. DoDMERB DQ'd me a few weeks ago based on a few conditions, among them being asthma and allergies. I have had asthma and allergies since birth and am prescribed an inhaler (which I use every morning before PT and during PT occasionally) and two other daily medications to treat my symptoms as well as take over the counter allergy as needed.

For my remedials, they did not ask for anything...

Am I Done

I want to go to the US Naval Academy and I am a competitive applicant. I have a high grades and a near perfect fitness score. Unfortunately, I have a condition called Neurofibromatosis Type 1. This is apparently an automatic DQ. Although, I only have a very mild condition. It doesn't hold me back at all from any physical activity or learning. The only thing this condition does really is change my appearance a little. Are my military dreams over?

DODMerb Schedule Exams

I have finished both medical and optometric exam. My question is how can I update my dates, if I cannot go back in time and select the appointment. It wouldn't let me update it beforehand since you need both appointments at the same time.

Protein in Urine

Just joined the forum and boy, wish I'd known enough to talk to my son sooner. He works out daily, is a two sport athlete (soccer and swimming), lifts weights and is preparing for the CFA. He hydrated before the physical today but not to the max and he worked out yesterday. The physical by CONCORDE went great except for the fact dr. wrote that he wears retainers at night (I wouldn't think that would be a problem) and that he had protein in his urine. So, from my reading of prior posts it...

Help

So I know I'm going to fail the DoDMERB test. Online it says my condition is un-waiverable for enlisting but it might be different for going through Naval Academy. I have Neurofibromatosis and it has absolutely no effect on me. How do I prove this? Is there a section on the waiver for a personal doctor to write a note about me? How do I persuade the academy to give me the waiver?

Age for Eczema DQ

Hello,
I have been researching the age DQ for eczema (skin rash) and have been receiving two distinct answers. The USCGA website has stated under the age of 9 while the DoDMERB says 12. Based on website updates, I am assuming under the age of 12 has been a more recent change. Could the different branches have different standards? Also, has anyone had an experience obtaining a waiver for this issue? If so, what is the age cutoff? I only say this because around 9 years old I had mild skin...

DoDMERB and reapplication

New to the forum - searched for this question but could not find a thread. My DS applied to USAFA last year. Rec'd nomination and passed DoDMERB but did not receive an acceptance.
He is currently enrolled in university & in AFROTC and reapplying to USAFA. DoDMERB is valid for two years. How does it get recorded into his current application? Is there someone he needs to contact?

Thanking you in advance.

Waiver for USAFA

Hello All!
I was disqualified for exercise induced asthma by dodmerb. About a week or two after I submitted my USAFA app I received a portal update saying they had requested a waiver on my behalf. The dodmerb website still says "pending waiver submission/review" like it always has since I was DQ'd. The only change is that underneath Code "R240.00 Provide copies of all medical and surgical health records regarding asthma" has been added. I looked up the code for more information but it still...

Who to Contact

Hello,

I have searched the forum up and down for an answer to this question, but unfortunately to no avail. Please forgive me if there is already a separate thread with an answer, and if I could be directed to said thread, I would appreciate it.

In light of my upcoming application process for the service academies, I have been careful to question any treatments suggested by my doctor that could potentially medically disqualify me for the academies. However, a certain medical issue is...

How hard is it to get a waiver?

They said I had to have remedials and get waivers for vision, scholiosis, and low body mass. How hard is it to get them?

Have already taken DoDMERB for ROTC

I have a 4-year Army ROTC Scholarship so I had to take the DoDMERB in June of 2015. I know they are valid for two years so how do I go about using this past DoDMERB for the West Point application?

Thanks!

PQ quesiton

Hello!

I'll keep things simple:

Is a one-time sleepwalking incident (even if it's been waived by DoDMERB) disqualifying when it comes time to be pilot qualified?

Thanks for any information!

DoDMERB status: Remedial?

I looked on my account and it says that my status is Redemial and that I need to provide reports and X-rays from my surgeries. Once I get these additional papers from my surgeon, who do I send it to? Should I have the surgeon directly send the paperwork?

DoDMERB who initiated it

DD received the letter to have it scheduled how do you know who initiated it to be done? Service academy, NROTC..? We got it all completed and scheduled with in 2 weeks from the receipt of the paper work.
