Hello all,

I recently filled out my dodmerb survey and decided the best path was honesty when I was asked about marijuana use. I know that they couldn't prove I did as it was a year and half ago, and I could easily get away with marking no, but a cadet doesn't lie and that would be a terrible start to my career of HONORABLE service. My only worry is that I won't be allowed to have a career of servce

Hi, I took my medical exam about a month ago and passed, but 2 Fridays ago I was playing football and my shoulder popped out! It went back in right away but the team trainer made me wear this brace to stop it from popping out again and let me go back into the game. Now my shoulder is ok but the trainer is still making me wear the brace to make sure it doesn't pop out and I have done many exercises since then that require my shoulder like pull ups with no problem. Do I have to tell DoDMERB...

I am wondering the process for scheduling these. DS had his initial exam around 9/2013, accepted a 4yr AROTC scholarship, contracted and is currently MS2. Since it has been 2 years since the exam, when will he be scheduled, and will the process to initiate it be the same: a letter in the mail?
Also, as he goes to school 7 hours from home, will they schedule it near his school, or near home? I know he will eventually find out about all of this, however, I would love a heads up as he is also...

If an academy sends you a letter saying that they didn't grant you a waiver, is that the end? They put their foot down and you're done? Or is there sometimes something you can do to help them get you a waiver?

Please forgive me if this has been asked before. I tried searching and could not find the answer. Question: Is it possible to pay a private doctor to undergo the same kinds of testing and examination that a candidate would go through in an actual DoDMERB as sort of a practice run. I am reading so many postings of candidates finding conditions that they never knew they had and getting DQed when they undergo their official DoDMERB, so I wonder if it possible or if you heard of other...

Missing tooth - Implant

My DS has had a missing front tooth since birth and just had his braces removed. While in braces, they opened the area where the tooth was missing so that he could eventually have a tooth implanted. He is 17 now and they do not recommend an implant until he is 18-19. He is interested in a service academy and/or ROTC and I am concerned it would be some type of disqualifier since he probably won't able to get the implant before he starts at the academy/rotc? Thanks.

I was recently awarded with a 4 year ROTC scholarship, but last week I received a letter saying I was not medically qualified due to an unstable shoulder.

I partially tore my labrum during last years wrestling season and submitted that I had seen a doctor for it when I did my initial examination. DoDMERB Then asked for additional information. Hi all,
I'm currently applying for the ARMY ROTC scholarship (boarded status). I know the basics about DODMERB, in the way that it is similar to MEPS for officers (to my knowledge). However, I'm unsure of where to begin in the DODMERB process. I have received no emails or letters about what to do.. and my research has been less than beneficial.
I've heard that due to dq's and waivers, this is a process that is not wise to procrastinate on. Any help on what I need to do, and where to begin...

Concorde Doctors?

For the initial DODMERB exam, I went to a Concorde eye doctor that gave me a wrong prescription. I believe this resulted in the sustaining of my disqualification and denial of waiver from USNA despite new eye exams from several eye doctors that proved there was no DQ.

Here is my question: do Concorde doctors know the disqualifying limits for DODMERB? Should I be upfront with the Concorde doctor about the purpose of the exam? I believe there should be as much transparency between patient...

Spinal Curvature, BUMED v. DoDMERB confusion

Hi,
I have mild scoliosis, spinal curvature. It sits at about 28 degrees thoracic, and like almost everyone who posts here, it doesn't affect any part of my life. Nevertheless, the military is pretty rough on backs, few or no waivers are given. Now, I'm applying to NROTC. According to DoDMERB, as long as my thoracic scoliosis is below 30 degrees. Rec for surgery on Deviated septum

I took my ds to his med exam this am- it was not far- no wait- all smooth- I am praying that doesn't mean the rocky road is about to begin.... Any advice on deviated septum's? I have asked before and called dodmerb and they were very helpful but basically said it was case by case. My ds got hit by a Bball in nose in 4th grade and the Drs didn't want to fix until he was older- we went when he was In 10 th grade to dr again because it was spring and pollen count was really high and a friend...

Why is it necessary to wait for 50 % of application to be done and then receive a letter through the mail before you can have the DODMERB exam? My husband has scheduled the DoDMERB at our MTF on base where he works, but looking more into it, it seems that we should not have the exam done until my son gets the letter in the mail. Can anyone explain?

Hi all;
Since I last posted, my DS got DQ'd, then a week later waivered by USNA, but so far, still DQ'd for NROTC . I was under the impression that it was more difficult to obtain a USNA waiver than NROTC. Has anyone ever experienced this is the past?

Remedial, time is running out..

Hey everyone, I have to be contracted NLT the beginning of December and I am still waiting on medical records for a remedial (its been almost two months!) I am a Junior in Army ROTC. So I have two questions...

1. Will they be able to rush the review? What if I need a waiver after the remedial? Will they extend my time to contract or will I just be done

2. Last year I ran a 5k and then had a scheduled physical. I had a urine test for some reason, and my GP ended up finding microscopic blood...

Braces Question

Hi,
I am aware that having braces will be a DQ, but if you fill out the paperwork with your orthodontist stating they will be removed before I day that you will not be DQ'd. I have filled out the paperwork and had it signed, but I do not know where to fax it to. Could anyone provide the address for me?

Waiver for Anemia

My DD received a DQ for Anemia from Dodmerb after we sent more lab results as requested. Her count went up from an 8 to 11.8 after taking Iron pills and Birth Control. Her Dr said that was good but I am guessing not good enough. Dodmerb letter says that if she is competitive enough that she may receive a waiver from USNA. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hello,

My ROTC DoDMerb expired last month, and I am in the process of getting my exam done again. I had to get a remedial last time, and got a waiver, how likely is it that I will be given that waiver again? Since nothing has changed since then.
