I checked the website and it now says Qualified. I also have a letter that states that I'm qualified. I am currently in Army ROTC. Can someone tell me what 's the next step after you are found qualified? I guess DODMERB notifies my school also??

DoDMERB Consultants

Has anyone had a negative experience with them? I have recently contracted the services of Dr. Merchant (DoDMERB Consultants) two weeks ago and I have to say I am very uneasy about it. I had one initial conversation with him and then since then it has been spotty, if anything. I understand he is retired and travels a lot, but he seems to have totally blown us off. My son was disqualified due to a history of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (he has been healthy and symptom free for 8+years). We...

Height Waiver

I know that is very uncommon for a candidate to be disqualified for their height or being under 58 inches (4’10). Although I will eventually reach DODMERB in the admissions process, has anyone in the past been measured taller than they actually are? At my CV at USMA the other day, many cadets told me that they were measured taller than their actual height. I am concerned that I will be disqualified for my height as I stand at 57 1/4 inches. My Regional Commander says it’s very difficult to...

Sleepwalking

my son was filling out the DoDMERB and had to answer yes to sleep walking. We never even gave the fact that he occasionally (3-4 times a year) gets out of bed and walks to his door or around his room, a thought! He usually wakes up himself and goes back to bed. Curious if sleepwalking ever qualifies for a waiver or if he's done. I know each case is individual and no one knows what could get a waiver or not for sure, but everything I'm reading is saying that this may be a game ender for...

Waiver timeline

So I’ve read about the cases where waivers take months, sometimes a year. How common is this? My son is waiting for decisions on 2 waivers for AROTC. The timeline says 4-6 weeks, are most during this time, and we only hear about the lengthier ones? 6 weeks takes us to 4/24, just in time for May 1st decisions. Crossing my fingers!!!

AROTC Chances of Waiver

A couple weeks ago we found out my daughter was medically DQ'd in the DoDMERB process. Since she is a 4 year AROTC recipient, it automatically goes to a waiver application. The basis for her DQ is as follows:

D241.30 Asthma/reactive airway disease/exercise induced bronchospasm after age 13
D101.22 Current or history of premature atrial or ventricular contractions

Some background - she is an endurance athlete (track and cross country) and has been her school's top distance runner for her...

Exception of Policy

Hello, I'm currently working through the PLC process for the USMC. My waiver for a past surgery was recently denied and I thought this was the end of the road. However, my OSO mentioned he wanted to put me in for an "Exception to Policy" to the USMC HQ in regards to my surgical history. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on this process? I was just curious as to what to expect. Thanks.

My son is at Norwich U., sophomore year and was awarded a 3 year scholarship. Scholarships were late to arrive in this past fall and his DoDMerb expired. So he had to get the physical/vision exams all over again and he is on waiver again (as he was the first time). Now its 4 weeks until this year is over and if not cleared/ granted in time his scholarship will be voided! He is being told he needs to pay $30,000 now just to register for classes next year. Any...

My waiver for eye divergence was approved by USMMA. The waiver process took about 5 weeks from waiver requested to waiver approval. To all those still waiting, have hope, you only have a little time left to wait!

Easy question. If a mid is found NPQ for unrestricted line, can the DoD force him to join the Naval Supply Corps as a restricted line officer? Speedy responses are very much appreciated. #Stressed

Does anyone have a contact number for the Air Force Waiver Authority to call about a status update? My DD had to go thru the Dodmerb process for a 2nd time (weird circumstances) and when she went through it the first time I called someone after waiting several months and they gave me an immediate answer. I don't remember who I called and we are now in a 2 week time crunch. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

DoDMERB AROTC Standards vs SA Standards - Hope?

Hello SA Forum Community,

I was medically disqualified from attending USMA about a week ago, and I'm worried that I will be medically disqualified from my AROTC Scholarship just the same. Is there a chance that DoDMERB reviews candidates' files in a different light for ROTC scholarships than they do for the SAs? Is there even a slim chance that I won't be medically disqualified again? My parents and I are very worried. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I received the National NROTC Scholarship this weekend and obviously one of the things that the receiving of the scholarship requires is that you pass (or receive a waiver for) your medical exam. When I applied to USNA I was DQ’d for what they called juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. I was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis two years ago from playing catcher 4x a day for three days a week all summer, every summer. I haven’t caught for over a year and a half now and I have been completely cleared...

Does anyone has experience to getting the waiver from NROTC with DQ code History of bowel resection? My son is a very healthy young man, besides the fact that he had bowl resection surgery due to small intestine obstruction when he was 11. He was awarded NROTC scholarship and currently he is waiting for the waiver.

AFROTC Waiver Denied

I am confused. I was given a Type 7 Non Teachnical AFROTC Scholarship several months ago, and I assumed that a DODMERB Waiver would be automatically asked. However, my status says Waiver Denied, yet I was never asked to provide new information for my waiver. Or does this mean that they have denied me a waiver. All my DQs are for hearing loss (but is not really much a problem as I can still hear pretty well) and for history of urinary problems (due to me having exercised a day before my...

Hello,

I just have a quick question. Recently, I've been very confused as to what is considered an "acceptable" Hgb level for the US Army. I've been told that it's either 13.5 or 14 g/dL. Can someone please clarify? Thanks.

USAFA/AFROTC waiver

DS had a USAFA waiver approved last fall. He is joining the AFROTC detachment at his #1 choice school. How likely is it that AFROTC will approve a waiver since USAFA already did?

I realize they are different authorities for the waiver approval but I would guess (my mistake, I know) that the Air Force requirements don't vary much from SA to ROTC. If he were moving to another branch it would be a different question but just curious if anybody has any experience with this?

Can anyone shed some light on the DoD asthma regulation? On DoD Instruction 613003p it says:

d. Airway hyper responsiveness including asthma (493.xx), reactive airway disease,
exercise-induced bronchospasm (519.11) or asthmatic bronchitis (493.90), reliably diagnosed
and symptomatic after the 13th birthday.
(1) Reliable diagnostic criteria may include any of the following elements: substantiated
history of cough, wheeze, chest tightness, and/or dyspnea which persists or recurs over a...

Hi all, ok kinda long story. been working with my recruiter for a couple of months now. I'm 35 & I am getting an age waiver for that too. But also I need another waiver for thoracic kyphosis. My curve is 11 & its supposed to be 10 or under. It doesn't cause me any pain & i am in good physical condition. its just from bad posture & ergonomics on my part of history. MEPS didn't find anything else on me that would disqualify me. but i don't see why this is a big deal its only 1 number off the...
