my vision is correctable to 20/20 in both eyes, what are my chances of getting a waiver.

Thank you

Non-Disqualifying condition

Hello All,

I have been wondering lately, are there any conditions that are NOT disqualifying for DoDMERB?

Would, say, Rosacea be a Non-DQing condition? I know a lot of people have that.

Thanks in advance!

Waiver Timeframe?

The Air Force Academy requested a waiver on my son November 12. How long does it typically take for a waiver decision to be rendered?

Color blind?

I've received a NROTC scholarship and I will be getting my medical examination in a week or two. I've been taking the enchroma color blind test and I've been getting mixed results: normal and mild protan. This has least me to believe that I'm most likely mild protan

Will I be able to receive a waiver if I do appear as mild protan?

AROTC Waiver help...

My son was just notified he will need a waiver for his 4 year AROTC scholarship. What are the real chances of him getting this? He was disqualified because of codes

D224.91-dislocation of patella (happened last October)
D226.40-current or history of osteochondral defect. (This was because he had a bone injury from dislocation of the patella-surgically repaired in october)

He has made a full recovery, cleared by his surgeon for full activity with no restrictions and has no residual effects...

AROTC Waiver help...

nervous mother here!

My DS is applying to ROTC, and he has brought to my attention that there will be a very in-depth medical exam called DODmerb.

He does not have any diagnosed medical issues that would result in him getting Disqualified, but at the examination, would they/could they find an issue with him and DQ him for good? What is the exam like?

All he wants to do is serve and sees himself nowhere else!

For those who have had experience in DODmerb, I would appreciate any advice and experience.

Disqualified due to developemental issues

hey all. I earned a 4 year AROTC earlier this year but i may get it revoked due to my minor aspergers, flat feet, and sleep problems.

I informed dodmerb on the survey that i had sleep walked in the past 12 months and i guess thats a disqualifier? It only happened once and was extremely minor.

I also have minor aspergers(lowest end of spectrum)which was never medicated and does not require any sort of medical or educational assistance.

I also have flat feet which i dont need any sort of...

AROTC Chances of Waiver

A couple weeks ago we found out my daughter was medically DQ'd in the DoDMERB process. Since she is a 4 year AROTC recipient, it automatically goes to a waiver application. The basis for her DQ is as follows:

D241.30 Asthma/reactive airway disease/exercise induced bronchospasm after age 13
D101.22 Current or history of premature atrial or ventricular contractions

Some background - she is an endurance athlete (track and cross country) and has been her school's top distance runner for her...

AROTC Chances of Waiver

Waiver Denied

Looking for advice from experienced members-

DS received two DQs from DoDMERB, one for eczema after 12 and other one for use of inhaler after 13. AFROTC just denied medical waiver. After I called HQ they said that denial is for eczema and that they didn't even consider the other DQ.
The issue was a rash on his face when he was 13. His pediatrician gave me a letter commenting on the issue and his present condition that have'nt send to DoDMERB yet. Doctor is willing to modify the language if...

Waiver Denied

Which ROTC most likely to give tree nut DODMERB waiver?

Daughter received scholarship offers from Air Force, Army and Navy. Which of these three is most likely to offer a waiver for a tree nut allergy? We are concerned about the length of time that it may take to have a final answer on the DODMERB waiver.

DODMERB

PLEASE HELP, I am filling out the medical history section for DODMERB and one of the questions asked if I have ever had exercise induced asthma. I have only ever had one attack when I was 12 and I don't think I really had it. I was given an inhaler and prescribed medicine but it was really just because I was out of shape that I had a wheezing attack.

so my question is if I will be medically disqualified or if I will have to get a medical wavier?

Scholarship is waiting on waiver...help

New Member
My son is at Norwich U., sophomore year and was awarded a 3 year scholarship. Scholarships were late to arrive in this past fall and his DoDMerb expired. So he had to get the physical/vision exams all over again and he is on waiver again (as he was the first time). Now its 4 weeks until this year is over and if not cleared/ granted in time his scholarship will be voided! He is being told he needs to pay $30,000 now just to register for classes next year. Any...

Allergies...

I am brand new when it comes to military medical standards. If anyone would be kind enough to offer advice, I would be thrilled!

I am allergic to cat, dog, and deer (LOL) dander from their fur. With the dander, I get icthy eyes, runny nose and I sneeze. Also, I get the seasonal "hay fever" in spring (they consist of sneezing, and a stuffed up/runny nose). These are mild and never been diagnosed. Do i put them down?

I know the form says allergies of any kind and hay fever/rhinitis, but...

Am I passing?

I received a 4 year NROTC Navy option scholarship for FAMU. I've had my physical today and my blood pressure was

148/70

132/60

This is the only thing that concerns me as it's above the normal 120/80. Will I still be qualified? Any help would be highly appreciated.

Appeal Request Denial and "Program Managers"

Hello SA Forum Community,

Recently, I submitted an appeal to DoDMERB in an attempt to reverse a disqualifying condition that I have reason to believe is a misdiagnosis. Yesterday, however, my DoDMERB medical technician informed me that they were unable to reverse the DQ. He/she (I will keep this person anonymous) also informed me that I had the option to contact the "program managers" who denied my appeal. Does anyone know to whom my DoDMERB medical technician was referring? If so, how do I...

Appeal Request Denial and "Program Managers"

I need some major advice.

Hello all, I currently just made this account because I’m in quite the predicament. I received a 3 year army rotc scholarship and it’s something I will always be proud about, however, I made a mistake and it’s killing me. I signed a paper saying no drug use of any sort however it wasn’t truthful. I’m about to graduate high school and have a DODMERB physical coming up within the next month. I have used alcohol less than 5 times and 2 of the times were family occasions. Literally thanks giving...

anxiousness leading up to medical exam

It is my fate to serve as an officer in the military, and honestly, I have trouble seeing myself elsewhere. That being said, I know the ONLY thing that is stopping me from going to ROTC/SA would be medical. (even though i have no injuries/diseases/etc that have been diagnosed and would lead me to be DQed.) Thankfully, I have been graced by God with excellent health.

However, I frequently have these "what if" moments about the medical exam. I have self-diagnosed one or two "issues" but I am...

NROTC DoDMERB Worries

I received the National NROTC Scholarship this weekend and obviously one of the things that the receiving of the scholarship requires is that you pass (or receive a waiver for) your medical exam. When I applied to USNA I was DQ’d for what they called juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. I was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis two years ago from playing catcher 4x a day for three days a week all summer, every summer. I haven’t caught for over a year and a half now and I have been completely cleared...

DoDMERB kyphosis waiver

Hello,

My name is Christian Fin and I am a 4 year AROTC scholarship recipient. I am supposed to go in for remedial testing to determine the Cobb angle of my kyphosis that I was first diagnosed with two years ago. My own doctor evaluated my angle to 58 degrees, and I think the standard for induction is either 50 or 55 degrees. I have never experienced any pain or complications from this condition and I lead a very active lifestyle. Assuming that my remedial x-ray finds that I am at a 58...

Denied AFROTC. Struggling to accept. Advice?

Hello,
I am looking for support.

My DS was denied a waiver through AFROTC after receiving a scholarship for engineering. He is devastated over this. I have talked with DODMERB Consultants, and it is pretty clear that he will never receive a waiver from any branch of the military. He had an MRI that showed some breakdown of cartilage last year. He is a varsity runner and has no symptoms in the past year. We got repeat MRIs to try to prove he was healed, but they remain the same....
