I'm planning to go to VFMC next semester. I'm planning to double major so I want to stay an extra year or two. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'd have to pay for any years in addition to four. If I don't sing up for the ROTC scholarship right away would I still have to go to DoDMERB this year? Thanks.

AROTC Chances of Waiver

A couple weeks ago we found out my daughter was medically DQ'd in the DoDMERB process. Since she is a 4 year AROTC recipient, it automatically goes to a waiver application. The basis for her DQ is as follows:

D241.30 Asthma/reactive airway disease/exercise induced bronchospasm after age 13
D101.22 Current or history of premature atrial or ventricular contractions

Some background - she is an endurance athlete (track and cross country) and has been her school's top distance runner for her...

How long does it typically take for DODMERB to find someone to perform a remedial?

It has been a couple weeks since I was assigned a remedial to get, an echocardiogram for my heart murmur, and I have called them a couple times and was prompted to leave a message and they would return my call, which I did both times and have heard nothing, and I was wondering how long does it typically take for a doctor to be assigned to me?

I was able to find in the past links to DoDMERB documents which list all conditions and maladies that are noted by DoDMERB as disqualifiers and some that can be waived. I can't find this document or a link on DoDMERB. Anyone has a source?

So medical deadline is April 15th which is this Sunday. Is this deadline very strict because that’s on a Sunday, or will the medical staff and admissions board be working over the weekend? I ask because they just received new information from me today about my case

Rosacea Waiver denied for the Navy.

First off let me apologize in advance: I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for me, but I don't know where to go. I am trying to join the Navy as an enlisted, but was DQ'd at MEPS for rosacea. I submitted a waiver with a note from a dermatologist denying any such skin conditions. All the information I can find suggests that rosacea isn't even a disqualifier. My doctor was stunned that I was DQ'd for this as well as the fact that the meps doctor thought I has rosacea in the first place....

I am 1 month from commissioning from AFROTC and was recently diagnosed with Testicular Cancer. The tumor was removed and did not spread beyond. I had one round of adjuvant chemo therapy to ensure there were not any cells left anywhere at all. I have applied for all my clearances and will be providing my medical paperwork to DODMERB very soon. Thought about contacting DODMERB Consultants but do not see a phone number. Thanks in advance to those who look at this post.

Looking for advice from experienced members-

DS received two DQs from DoDMERB, one for eczema after 12 and other one for use of inhaler after 13. AFROTC just denied medical waiver. After I called HQ they said that denial is for eczema and that they didn't even consider the other DQ.
The issue was a rash on his face when he was 13. His pediatrician gave me a letter commenting on the issue and his present condition that have'nt send to DoDMERB yet. Doctor is willing to modify the language if...

Hi everyone,
So I received my TWE to USNA about a few weeks ago which is okay because I am even more determined now and I think a year in college first will help me to do even better is UNSA ‘23 should I get in. That being said I’ve just developed a concern for my application next year. After a recent visit to a doctor last week I discovered I have something called Super ventricular tachycardia. It’s a non-lethal heart condition which essentially has another place in my heart to send...

AFROTC Waiver Denied, Next Steps?

Hello all,
As of today, my waiver from AETC for a history of malignant tumors (11 years cured) has been denied. My technician said that I can provide "rebuttal information", presumably for an appeal, but I'm confused as to what that means. Also, I have emailed my university's Naval and Army ROTC detachments, and was wondering if they would be able to take me. It is my dream to be a military aviator; is that possible for me? Thanks for any and all input.

USCGA Waiver

I received a conditional appointment to USCGA. I was just informed yesterday that I need to undergo additional tests for my (disqualifying conditions) poor eyesight and mild allergy to walnuts.
Does anyone know if the Coast Guard Academy is more lenient that other service academies in terms of handing out waivers?
Does anyone know of appointees that have gotten a waiver for similar if not the same medical conditions?

DoDMERB AROTC Standards vs SA Standards - Hope?

Hello SA Forum Community,

I was medically disqualified from attending USMA about a week ago, and I'm worried that I will be medically disqualified from my AROTC Scholarship just the same. Is there a chance that DoDMERB reviews candidates' files in a different light for ROTC scholarships than they do for the SAs? Is there even a slim chance that I won't be medically disqualified again? My parents and I are very worried. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi All:

I am writing to ask for any recommendations, guidance or even simple words of support.

This is our story:

This past fall, my daughter after falling in love with the US Naval Academy (USNA) at the USNA Summer Seminar in 2017, applied to the USNA for the class of 2022.

She had her initial DODMERB physical exam done on September 27th 2017. My wife had asked for copies of the exam results and was told by the doctor’s office that they do not give the results to the candidate or...

Why no remedial?

My DS was nominated for an NROTC scholarship. Unfortunately, he made the mistake of competing in a track meet the night before his DoD exam. After the meet he got a very severe cramp in his right calf. The next day at his exam his right calf was very sore and he could not stand on his toes and walk across the room without pain. He also had pain doing the lunges. The doctor told us that she was going to note that he had a minor acute calf injury and that he might have to do another exam once...

Waiver denied/AFROTC... what to do?

My DS applied to USNA his senior year of high school and had the DoDMERB exam in the process. He had no medical issues addressed in the exam. However, when listing medications, he reported triamcinolone cream that he had filled only once about a year before. He had been seen by a dermatologist for a separate (non-disqualifying) issue and brought up a small, dry patch of skin on his arm that was diagnosed as eczema and given the cream. DS was DQ for atopic dermatitis after the 12th birthday....

Rosacea

I have a skin condition called rosacea. It’s a condition where your cheeks are flushed and red. It is very mild and has never been diagnosed by a doctor. As a matter of fact, I had a general check up a few weeks ago and my doctor said nothing about it!

I am seeking an appointment to one of the service academies and will be applying to all ROTC scholarships. Will rosacea affect me in the DoDMERB process?
