Antidepressant

I took an antidepressant a little under two years ago for three months and I wanted to be completely honest so I made mention of it on my DoDMERB packet. I got a remedial back requesting me to send in the records of depression. I am perfectly mentally healthy and I am extremely worried that I will get DQ because of the past usage. This is my goal and I have had tunnel vision for a long time. Could anyone please tell me what they believe the outcome will be?

Potential Pilot Qualified (PPQ)

Is there anyway to check if I am potential pilot qualified on the DoDMERB site or USAFA/AFROTC sites?

There are some other threads about this, and they say that if your status is "commission qualified" you are NOT PPQ. But they are a few years old, and things may have changed.

My DODMERB status is "Qualified", but it says nothing about pilot. As far as I know (for AFROTC at least) you can't even compete for a pilot slot if your DODMERB isn't PPQ.

Thanks everyone!

Hi All:

I am writing to ask for any recommendations, guidance or even simple words of support.

This is our story:

This past fall, my daughter after falling in love with the US Naval Academy (USNA) at the USNA Summer Seminar in 2017, applied to the USNA for the class of 2022.

She had her initial DODMERB physical exam done on September 27th 2017. My wife had asked for copies of the exam results and was told by the doctor’s office that they do not give the results to the candidate or...

DODMERB exam repeated in college?

$

Once cleared as "qualified" with a waiver prior to entering AFROTC in college (on scholarship), is that medical clearance good for 4 years of college? Or is it repeated before they have field training (which I believe is between soph and junior year undergrad)?
If it is repeated, do they start from scratch, and revisit every issue they have had since childhood, or only medical updates?
Thanks

Sesame Seed Allergy Disqualification?

I am currently a junior in high school, planning to apply for a Naval Academy appointment. According to a blood test by a local allergy doctor, I have an allergy to sesame seeds. I have eaten sesame seeds many times in the past with no issues. I have spoken to my recruiter about this but the answer was inconclusive.
Will an allergy to sesame seeds disqualify me for service in the Marine Corps or attendance to the Naval Academy? If so, what are the chances for a waiver?

What time of the day Dodmerb?

My vision is usually better in the morning so I was wondering what time of the day one has to take the DODMERB. Do you get to pick your appointment time?

Dodmerb Connection not Private

I just received an email saying that the DoDMERB has received my medical exam. It also states that I should go to their website http://dodmerb.tricare.osd.mil and create an account to follow the status of my exam. I looked it up and it says that my connection is not private and there are possibly attackers coming from that web address. I tried googling the website and it comes up as the first search result, seems pretty legit. What do I do here?
Thank you.

Does not having 20/20 in one eye automatically disqualify me to compete for a pilot slot?

Hey all I’m curious to know if not having 20/20 in one eye disqualifies me from being a pilot. My right eye is 20/20 and left eye is 20/30. It would be great to fly fixed wing planes for either Air Force, Navy, or Marines Air National Guard but I hope having 20/30 in one eye disqualifies me from this.

Hospitalized

I was recently taken to the hospital for a fall. I was not injured other than a pretty nasty bump on the head. However, I was intoxicated and it is in the medical file. I recently received my appointment and have already conducted my Dodmerb. I am under 21, so I am hesitant to report this if I don't have to. Since there was no recorded injury, do I still need to report the incident?

Eczema Waiver Denied

DS waiver request for eczema has been denied for the second time by AFROTC. A retired military dermatologist evaluated him and didn’t find any sign of eczema and wrote a very positive report, but it didn’t help. When DS talked to HQ AFROTC they said there is nothing he can do. He had received four year Type 7 scholarship back in Sep that he was really proud of and he was looking forward to going to Texas A&M.
Certainly feels like end of road for him. Poor guy always wanted to join Air Force...

DoDMERB Still not updated...

Hello, I have applied to USNA for the class of 22. I sent in my remedials for DoDMERB in early January that included 2 statements, and a questionnaire, and received an email back saying they would be processed. They have still not been updated in my account and my medical is considered not complete. I called DoDMERB multiple times and left voicemails about my situation. About a week ago I ended up just re-emailing them including my original email that contained my remedials and was told that...

Qualified for all branches of service if waiver received?

I am currently a candidate for USAFA (nomination) and USNA (no nomination sadly). My #1 choice is to attend USNA to become a Marine Corps pilot and fly MV-22 Ospreys. I am, however, disqualified medically for my past history of asthma (take no medication, no attack since 4, and have a doctors note so I believe it will be waived) and being allergic to dairy. I may or may not decline an appointment to USAFA, if I am offered one, to achieve my dream of attending USNA to become a Marine Corps...

Psoriasis and possible waivers

Hi,
New here so I'll try to be brief after much research. My daughter and I are planning an initial visit to the Naval Academy next week. She wants to pursue a degree in engineering and this was high on my list for her. She has a very mild case of psoriasis on the back of her neck. From my research it seems almost impossible to get a waiver for any manner of psoriasis. Other than cases where misdiagnosis was discovered, I was wondering if ANYONE has been granted a waiver for this...

DS found out from his RC yesterday that his waiver had been denied. Is there any way to appeal a waiver denial? I suspect that this is the end of the road.

Remedial Requested but I'm not sure for what

I assume it is for my Still's heart murmur, however, it doesn't explicitly state what the remedial is for, it just says that my status as of now is "remedial requested". Will I get an email or an update soon expressing what exactly I need to do or should I call? Thanks.

Previously qualified, now DQ

Our DS was initially DQ'ed for astigmatism, but qualified on Dec 5th. He was accepted to USMA and USNA and accepted appointment to USNA. Yesterday, he received a letter from DoDMerb that he is now pending again with the following info:

"At the request of US Naval Academy, a subsequent review of your medical examination was conducted. It has been determined that Additional Medical Information (AMI) is required before we can make a final determination."

Anyone have experience with this?...

Waiver vs. DQ Removal

Good Morning,

I have a condition that I listed on my medical that I, as it turns out, do not have. I determined this with a biopsy which came out negative. Initially, I put the condition down because I was verbally told I had this by the doctor, but it wasn't until after I was disqualified that I got a biopsy to confirm or deny my condition and possibly help with the waiver process. I have been waived for Army ROTC but I wanted to know if there was a way to get the disqualification removed...

ADHD Diagnosis

I was diagnosed with ADHD in sixth grade. I was on Concerta for something like one year. I have not renewed my prescription since 7th grade, and I have had solid academic success since then. I genuinely believe that I have outgrown my condition since sixth grade.

Could this disqualify me? Could I get a psychiatrist to note that I have outgrown this condition?

AFROTC Scholarship- waiver denied, next steps?

Hello,
DS found out today, waiver denied by AFROTC for an old knee issue which never required surgery and fully resolved a year ago without resurfacing despite vigorous training XC, indoor track and outdoor track.
It is a lot on the line financially.
What can we do now? Any advice?
Ugh.
Thanks
