Waiver vs. DQ Removal

Good Morning,

I have a condition that I listed on my medical that I, as it turns out, do not have. I determined this with a biopsy which came out negative. Initially, I put the condition down because I was verbally told I had this by the doctor, but it wasn't until after I was disqualified that I got a biopsy to confirm or deny my condition and possibly help with the waiver process. I have been waived for Army ROTC but I wanted to know if there was a way to get the disqualification removed...

Scheuermann's syndrome

Hi all,

I have been accepted for a 4 year AROTC scholarship. I am currently going through the DODMERB process. A couple of years ago, I got a diagnosis for a Scheuermann's syndrome, a form of kyphosis. This means that I have a slight rounding in my upper spine, but it has never resulted in any pain or other complications. The doctor said my case was so mild that he recommended a second opinion just to be sure I actually had a true diagnosis (I never got a second opinion given that my back...

Waiver Situation: Is It Futile?

Hey there, I'm posting to discuss my current situation with DoDMERB as I am an applicant to USMA, USNA, USAFA, and AROTC. I am most interested in attending Clemson University on my 4-year Army Scholarship. I will start from the very beginning; it will take a moment to get to my points, but all information is relevant. Please bear with me.

Back in September, I took a physical as part of my DoDMERB application. All went well, except for one thing: for the first time in my life, the physician...

Hello all, newbie here.
I applied for and received an AFROTC 4-year Type 7 scholarship through the High School Scholarship Program (I am a senior this year), and have been waiting on my waiver (portal has said "pending waiver submission/review" for about a month now). My specific DQ code has to do with cancer that I have been in remission from for about 11 years now, and I was wondering how much longer I will have to wait, and whether or not I will have this waiver cleared by the time I...

Can anyone shed some light on the DoD asthma regulation? On DoD Instruction 613003p it says:

d. Airway hyper responsiveness including asthma (493.xx), reactive airway disease,
exercise-induced bronchospasm (519.11) or asthmatic bronchitis (493.90), reliably diagnosed
and symptomatic after the 13th birthday.
(1) Reliable diagnostic criteria may include any of the following elements: substantiated
history of cough, wheeze, chest tightness, and/or dyspnea which persists or recurs over a...

Hello all, I recently checked my status for medical qualification. I saw that DodMerb failed me (code D.200). They requested a waiver for USMMA, as that is the academy I applied to. Do I just wait now? Are my chances if addmission slim to none now?
Here is what the website states:
R250.30 Pending waiver review by USMMA
D200.00 Medical Officer Miscellaneous Disqualified - Divergence excess (12+ p.d.) without tropia but with intermittent OS suppression 50% ot time.

Hello, I am getting ready to take a DODMERB for the USCGA, does anyone know if I will get DQ'd? Does anyone have any experience with this? I have a severe peanut allergy, it is anyphylaxtic, I do have prescribed epi pens since I was very young. I found out about my allergy when I was about 1 when I ate a ritz cracker with PB on it and I had a severe reaction. Since then I have never had to use my epi pens. Could I get a waiver. Thanks in advance

Hello, this is my first post. i applied for AFROTC HSSP back in the fall and had my interview with an officer early January. I just received an email this evening stating that I would be prompted within 2-3 days on instructions for my DoDMERB exam. Does this mean that I was accepted for the scholarship?? Any help is appreciated.

Date exam reviewed, what does this mean?

I recently sent paperwork to DoDMerb about my asthma saying that I have a past history of asthma but do not need/ use medication for my asthma (the note was from my physician). I also sent a letter to DoDMerb talking about my boxing experience and training asking for the review board to take that into consideration for my waiver. I am also disqualified because I have a dairy allergy. Today I checked my portal of DoDMerb and it has yesterdays date with "Date exam reviewed". What does this...

ACL Repair Waiver USAFA

Torn ACL was surgically repaired 12/22/17. Surgeon expects a release to full activity at the 6 month mark (~6/22/18), should rehab continue to go well. At that point, the CFA could be completed at any time. Per DODMERB, 12 months post surgery (12/22/18), asymptomatic, and stable knee DOES meet the standard for the Medical Evaluation. The deadline for application documents is January 31. Here is the question: Wait until the 12 month mark for the medical evaluation, or take it early as...

Possible Asthma DQ?

So I have a question regarding a possible asthma and allergies DQ. When I was 6 years old until shortly after I turned 9 years old, I saw an allergy-immunologist who initially diagnosed me with allergic rhinitis and intrinsic asthma. During the ages mentioned, I was taking an inhaled steroid for my asthma treatment, but it never seemed to change my condition much. As well, my asthma symptoms were never serious. I was never treated for an asthma attack and only used a rescue inhaler on...

I was DQ'd for "Myopia - refractive error greater than -8.00 diopters" last summer. USMA gave me a LOA and requested a remedial last fall. They ultimately denied my waiver late last month.

I can't understand it though because the doctors who did my remedial were very encouraging and said I don't have any underlying disease or signs of retinal detachment. They thought everything looked good.

I'm also an applicant for USNA and USAFA and also won a 4 year AROTC scholarship and a NROTC...

Waivers for Mood

Stressing out in MI over DS with history of mood disorder. When he was 9, mom was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer and the household was upside down and anxious. We got DS to therapy and he was medicated (low dose) for anxiety and depression. Lots of talk therapy. They also gave him a low dose of ADHD drug to help him focus for a bit. Last treated at age 12 or 13....strong, fine person and better for the experience.

Trying now to achieve his dreams of USAFA, but alarmed by DQ. If the...

ROTC and Asthma

Hi

I am a sophomore in high school and I am wanting to do army rotc in college. If i receive a scholarship, I have a question:

I was diagnosed with asthma at the age of 4. I have not experienced symptoms since the age of 9 and my doctor has confirmed this on my medical records. Looking at the army regulation, at this point I would qualify. But my problem is that I have had an inhaler that has been on my prescription list. The thing is, i haven’t used my inhaler ONCE since I was 10....

Injuries

So I have, for the majority of my life, been considerably healthy. However, as a freshman in high school, I had a couple stress fractures on L4/5 on my back. Both have completely healed and don’t bother me at all. During sophomore year, I had ACL reconstruction on my left leg with a patella graft. Does this disqualify me for service. My goal is to commissioned as an officer, Marine/Navy aviation. Any insight or personal experiences related to this? Or am I just screwed?

How long for waiver

My current medical status is "Pending Waiver Submission/Review," and it has been like this since August 2017. I was disqualified due to astigmatism, myopia, and distant visual acuity not correctable to 20/20 in each eye for USNA. I haven't received any emails or notifications about my status, and I am concerned because I have heard some people getting remedial notifications recently. In all honesty, I am confused and wondering if there are any similar cases like this.

Hi, Does anyone have any experience getting a waiver for H3 hearing? The SA portal shows "waiver denied" and I'm trying to figure out the next step and if H3 likely takes some one out of the running for NROTC. Thank you for anything you can share.
