Waiver Process

Status on DoDMERB portal changed from "Remedial Requested" to "Pending Waiver/Review". I got the dq based on a "history of anxiety" which shouldn't be the case since I passed all the parameters per DoDI 6130.03, so I'm really confused. I know the decision is in the hands of the WA, but is there anything I can do to combat this at the DoDMERB level? Perhaps they could overturn there decision? The real question I had though is what happens next. Once my detachment requests a waiver, what...

Nonexistent status update

Received an email today from DodMERB telling me that there was an update to my status and that a letter had been generated. Went onto the website and saw no such update or any correspondence. Everything is the same, qualification for each academy. Anyone else have this happen to them?

I am applying for USNA and my dodmerb status is Pending waiver from USNA. I was DQ for history or current opacities of the lens including cataract. Has anyone seen this before and seen a waiver denied or approved. My vision is fine and i have never had or needed glasses. I passed every eye test and I believe i am 20/20 in both eyes. Also how long will i have to wait to find out my fate. Note- I would not consider myself an extremely competetive candidate. Decent grades decent sat/act played...

If a person has an LOA from USMA with stellar background but was DQ'ed for -9.0 nearsightedness, is a waiver still a possibility? A relative has been waiting for a waiver since summer but hasn't heard still and is getting discouraged. She had no problems as long as wearing contacts or glasses. Is it a difficult one to get a waiver? Are they very strict with the -8.0 maximum? I know that other branches might be tougher with vision, but I wasn't sure with USMA. Is there anyone here who...

I need to make a new username and password because I have since forgotten it. I keep emailing DoDMERB, but they say they do not see I have an account and keep telling me to make a new account. It is impossible for me to not have an account, since I have qualified for USNA twice and I am receiving emails from them saying my status has changed.
Is there a direct number I can reach them at? I do not need to speak with a medical examiner.
DoDMERB does not reply to emails in a timely manner...

spondylolysis/pars stress fracture

Hey everyone I'm a sophomore in high school wanting to go to USNA, and was diagnosed with spondylolysis, or pars fractures in my L4 and L5 vertebrae. The doctors said the one on L5 will never heal but I won't have pain in it and the one on L4 should heal. The doctor also said I would be cleared to do ALL activities in 6 months. Would this DQ me or have any impact on the application process? Thanks.

Is there enough time to resolve a new issue like a recent minor pars stress fracture that would get a waiver approved?

I am applying to both the Naval Academy and Military Academy for the class of 2012. I have already been "academically and physically qualified" for both academies. I have a senator's nomination to the naval academy and am working on another congressional nomination to usma. My only hang up is medical. I had 2 lumbar stress fractures that i received playing football and wrestling during my junior year. For two months, I wore a brace and then did physical therapy until i regained the strength...

Averse reaction to fire ant bites

So when I was filling out my medical history on the DoDMETS website, I checked "yes" to "averse reaction to insect stings/bites" or something like that, because in middle school I was bitten a few times. The bites themselves swelled up a lot, and I had some trouble breathing when I had to run for Gym class, but I had no other negative reactions otherwise. Then it asked me a bunch of questions regarding treatment, who was my doctor, etc. Thing is, my fire ant bite allergy is pretty much...

Back Surgery for Spondylolysis/Pars Fracture

I've read several posts about waivers for Spondylolysis where the candidates did not need surgery. These have been very helpful, but I have not found any examples of candidates with a surgically repaired Pars Fracture. Via one of the posts we did find a Navy document that indicates surgery using any “fusing” procedures of the spine will not gain a waiver. I have not found equivalent documentation from any of the other branches nor any posts about the non-fusion...

I have applied to USCGA, USNA and USAFA.
However when I checked the status of my DODMERB exam it stated that it was under review for just the USCGA and USNA.

Does anyone know why they wouldn't review my medical exam for the USAFA as well?
I'd appreciate any insight/response.

My DoDMERB status changed to Pending Waiver Submission/Review for code
D211.50-History of head injury with associated post injury manifestations for both the USNA and the USAFA. I'm wondering if anyone has ever dealt with this particular issue and what the outcome was and how long it took to receive a waiver. Thank you.

DD received 4 yr NROTC scholarship. Over a year ago daughter had difficult breathing during soccer tourney. Thought it could have been lung infection because she was sick before the tourney. Took her to specialist he thought she might have exercised induced asthma or vocal cord dysfunction. Gave her an inhaler to try but had no effect so he thought she could have vocal cord dysfunction. She has never been back to the doctor becuse she has no issues with breathing since then. She never had...

DS applied to several academies, has rec'd nominations and passed DOD Medical. Was injured during ice hockey game, seen by doctor and was cleared to return to normal activities without any restrictions. Medical Eval letter states that any illness, injury, etc must be reported immediately. He and I have both tried calling DOD to get instructions on proper procedure for submitting documentation. We cannot reach a human and have left numerous messages without receiving a return call from...

R251.51 Consult - Applicant's private physician for ear wax removal/TM evaluation

I got the letter Dec. 12. Family problems and other issues arose. I got the test and records done and turned them in Feb 22 2017. My ROTC det emailed the records to them and it has been a week and it has not shown up in my portal that dodmerb has not received my records yet. I do not know what to do at this...

There are some questions on the DODMERB form that seem to be similar... DS has an allergic reaction to dust... allergic rhinitis in his medical records. Does he need to answer yes to 3 different questions for that one issue. Allergies- or is this intended to mean food / drug type allergies. Sensitivity to dust. Again, if this is covered by his yes answer to allergic rhinitis does he also need to answer yes to this question. For what it's worth his allergies are well controlled with...

MEPS vs. DoDMERB

Hello all. I am a senior in high school and in addition to applying for ROTC scholarships for college, I also signed my DEP enlistment with the Air Force as one of my backup plans. I went to MEPS, took the ASVAB, went through medical, and swore into the DEP all that fun stuff. Now if I receive an ROTC scholarship, or just want to go to college and do ROTC even if I do not get a scholarship, then I can still DEP-out of the enlistment and go through ROTC for an officer career. My main...

Hi everyone. So I have this callas on my foot that will need to be removed at some point (already tried the freezing/burning otc treatments). Now I am having to schedule my DoDMERB exams soon and will not be having any sort of procedure before that. If I do have the callas removed, would that be something that I would later have to send medical documents up for, or is it too minor to have to update anybody up on. I'm just unsure of how the process works and what needs or does not need to...

What do I do there aren't any explicit instructions that I can find. My dodmerbtricare says that I need to send in paperwork regarding headaches I had in middle school. Do I just call my doctors office and ask for copies? And where do I mail them to? Looking everywhere on the site to figure it out. Do I upload them?

I need to fill out a remedial form, but I won't be able to meet my doctor until next week. 10th of march. Is that too late to have my DODMERB exam completed for the service academies?
