Eczema DQ

Hi,
Does anyone have any experience getting a medical waiver for eczema? My DS has a 4-year Air Force ROTC and 4-year Naval ROTC scholarship (and we are waiting on the Army); however, he was just DQ'd by DodMERB for eczema! I am shocked, because the two times he's had eczema were so minor we almost didn't even note it on his DodMERB form! In fact, I don't even know that it was truly eczema, I think his skin just gets a little dry in the winter; now he uses moisturizing lotion and he...

Hi! I was awarded both NROTC zane AFROTC scholarships. I got my results from my DODMERB physical back, but I have remedials being requested about a past knee injury and orthodontic things. How do I go about completing the remedial? And do I just send it in? The website is very unclear, so any help would be appreciated!

My son is a high school junior.

In third grade he was evaluated by the school district and given the learning disability of written expression. He had an IEP through 5th grade.

In 6th grade he began attending a private college prep school. They do not have IEPs, but he was given an accommodation of extra time on exams which he used through the end of freshman year. At the beginning of sophomore year (early Sept 2015) we submitted a written request to discontinue all accommodations. He has...

I am currently active duty Marine Corps and I found out I have Spondolylosis off of a routine X Ray last year. My DoDMERB package has been under review for about a month. They requested a remedial and it turned out to be just a Food Allergy Questionnaire. I heard when they request a remedial, what they requested will be the deciding factor for a qualification status. Does that mean my spondolylosis is not a problem. It was found off a routine test, no pain, have a 300 CFT and 278 PFT.

Medical Exam

Hello,
So I got my menstrual cycle earlier than expected, and I was wondering if that is going to effect any part of my medical exam, or if I need to reschedule. I am supposed to be going to the doctors office in two days (February 9th) and I just got my cycle today (Feb. 7th), so I was just wondering if I am going to have to call tomorrow and reschedule, or if it is okay that I go on the 9th.

Disqualification?

Hello!

I was wondering what kind of medical records the DoDMERB requests.

My family went through family counselling when my mom was having some issues. My mom and I fought a lot so I went to indivdual sessions for about a month. I think I was labelled as "minor depression due to family circumstances" or something like that. This was at age 16. Will this hurt my chances? Will these records even be disclosed to the DoDMERB? I can say with 100% honesty I have never been mentally ill; I don't...

NROTC MO scholarship DoDMERB ?

My son was told by the recruiter that he wouldn't be scheduled for a physical with DoDMERB unless he got the scholarship as they don't waste time and money on non scholarship winners. Is this the way it is done?

Taping

Instructions for taping say reduce waist and hip by the nearest 1/2 inch.

So if my DD waist is 31" is reduces to 30.5.

Likewise the neck increase to nearest 1/2 inch, if is 13.5 increased to 14"?

Juvenile Cataract Surgery

I know a history of cataract surgery is usually not waived, but I am wondering if exceptions will be more likely to be made for a medical student as the army cannot train physicians on their own?

For any physicians on this forum this is the exact note from my ophthalmologist
1. Anisometropic Hyperopic Astigmatism
2. Satus Post Bilateral Cataract Extraction with PC/IOL extraction (in 1997)
3. Intermittent exotropia

correctable vision to 20/20 in both eyes, full stereopsis. Slip lamp exam...

I have another thread already on here "history of juvenile cataracts surgery" but wanted to know if anyone has ever seen this disqualification waved. My recruiter made it sound like the people who grant waivers just go by the dq code and it is a code that is either waiverable or is not waiverable.

Does anybody know if this code can be waived?

I was granted a color deficiency waiver from USNA at the end of January. On my portal it states that Date Letter Sent - January 31, but I have not received anything yet? Should I have gotten something in the mail?

Asthma...again

DS just found out he is a 3 year AROTC winner. As a young child he suffered from breathing issues and was diagnosed with asthma. He also has allergies. He took Zyrtec for years for allergies but switched to singulair for his allergies a few years ago. He recently switched back to Zyrtec thinking it would be better to have singulair removed from his records as a current med. He has used an inhaler maybe a dozen times in the last 10 years and not for at least 3 years. I have not been able...

DODMERB DQ - Exotropia

About 2 months ago, I completed my DODMERB medical exams for the United States Military Academy. After a month went by, I was told that I was disqualified for a condition called Strabismus Exotropia. However, after going to another doctor within my state, it was determined that I do not have Exotropia, but instead, I have Exophoria with a 10 diopter deviation. Is Exophoria a disqualifying condition like Exotropia?

Hello everyone! I'm currently a sophomore in high school and I have been working to try and make a good application for the academies. When it comes to physical and academic and leadership I think I'm doing great , good grades, I pole vault etc... the one thing I'm afraid might screw me over is my allergies. I am technically allergic to most nuts. The thing is I can eat nuts and be fine, eat peanut butter, neutella, and anything that contains traces etc... and of all the "nuts" I'm the...

How possible is it to get a waiver for spondylylosis? Don't know exactly how I developed it but it showed up on a routine x ray that got sent to DODMERB. I'm active duty Marine Corps right now andit really isn't a problem.
