Lengthy holiday timeframes

Anyone else having really crazy times for everything? I had my exams completed 1 month ago then it took over a week just for them to receive the files, then it took another week to go on hold due to a error of the person who did the physical, then it took another week to go back to complete and receive the fix and it’s been another 2 weeks of still being on complete

Just wondering if these timeframes are normal for this time of year, with holidays and such

My DD plans on applying to SAs and ROTC in 2020. Over this winter break I will be suggesting to her to begin getting her medical records in order. I suppose once she starts the process she'll get the answer to this, but in what format should she request the records? digital? CD? paper?
Thanks!

Good Morning,

I'm looking for guidance on how to work though the waiver process for what I would think is a typical situation for athletic females applying to a service academy. Yesterday, I received update from DoDMERB, stating I do not meet medical standards for the following reason(s) - D171.00. Any advice on how to work on the waiver process, this is now my last hurdle, as GPA and ACT are where they need to be and earlier this week I received my nomination from our Senator. Do I...

Waiver Denied AFROTC

Hello,

I recently received correspondence that a waiver was denied for me. I didn't know a waiver had been requested in the first place, and no additional medical information was requested of me. Is there a way to appeal the decision? The waiver is for asthma, which I had as a child but no longer have, as proven by a pulmonary function test. If there is a way, who do I send my updated medical information to? Thanks in advance.

Question about under waiver review

My DD's DODMERB status is now "under waiver review" after her remedial and medical records were sent. Her doctors are ready to write additional letters and clarification in support. We had anticipated this would occur so her doctors are ready to supply additional info for her. Do we send those in or wait for additional word from DODMERB? She has already received a Tier 1 NROTC scholarship and is waiting on the SAs. Thank you!

Medical disqualification(eye injury)

Good morning,

I received a DoDMERB disqualification for "Current or history of any abnormality of the retina, choroid, or vitreous" some few months ago. This is from an eye injury (Traumatic Macular Hole)I received playing soccer for my varsity team last year. I had a surgery in June and my vision has gotten a lot better even my last visit to the opthamologist, he said the hole is closed. My USAFA portal currently says "Complete but Medically Disqualified." I was denied a waiver twice for...

I am requiring a waiver for usna and was wondering if waivers were still being given out and when the cut off date is for candidates to recieve a waiver. I have been CPR since early january and have been medically DQ'd since about the same time. Is this long without hearing something a bad thing?

When will results appear in DODMERB

My DS had his physical about a month ago, however his eye exam isn't until January. Will the results of both be shown at the same time. In other words does DODMERB wait until they have the results of both examinations before posting the results?

I completed my medical exam and eye exam approximately a month ago, but my application portal for USNA still says that my medical exam isn’t complete. How can I fix this considering I scheduled the exams through the official website and everything? The official website says “awaiting receipt of initial medical exam”

any NROTC national scholarship winner waivers yet?

Hello, has anyone had any luck yet receiving a waiver for NROTC national scholarship this cycle? My son's has been under review for 6-7 weeks since 11/6 but I hear that ROTC can be a little tougher to get even than the academies. Just hoping to lock the military part of Plan B down - college acceptance at Texas A&M is secured.

He already has a waiver from USNA but who knows about the appointment? Looking for a sure thing.

Merry Christmas!

These Forums are an EXCELLENT vehicle for applicants, parents, advocates, etc, to talk about their personal experiences; get other folks in similar scenarios to exchange thoughts and ideas; and basically learn from others about the Service Academies, ROTC, Academy Days, and a myriad of other topics. Sometimes, inadvertently, misinformation, intentionally or not, can mislead others. "Periodically," I will jump in with pure facts to answer questions. If I don't have the exact facts, I will...

How does the process of the DODMERB exams work once you’ve done them and submitted them? In other words, what are the terms? Is a waiver only needed if you “do not meet” the standards? What things can you be disqualified for (especially for eye exam as I had to do it without contacts)? If you meet the standards, then do you have to do anything else? Lastly, how long does it take for them to review your submitted exams?

Hello. After searching through some threads I have a question about the waiver process.

Context
I finished all of my medical examinations in early August and received a DQ at the end of the month. I've been under "Waiver Review" since the end of August with no change to my DODMERB portal.

Question
Is it possible that I still could be waiting for a decision in June? Is there anything I should do in the meantime? (I've already completed everything else in my applications and...

Waiver Deadline?

Currently, I have an LOA to USAFA, pending nomination and medical qualification. My problem is that I've been DQ'd for shoulder dislocation that happened last month. :(
I have scheduled a surgery for around the end of December. After surgery, I will have to do rehab and physical therapy to build up my strength and stability. Doctors have said that I could probably get cleared for activity about 6 months after surgery. That would put me ready right around May or July, exactly...

Pending Waiver Review

I'm wondering if it helps the pending waiver review process to provide supporting documentation from the doctor/ doctors and any test results. Or is the answer to really just wait for the SA to initiate and ask for additional information.

Hi everyone, I think I've got tonsillitis right now and I get sore throats and strep throat significantly more often than the average person (many cases a year). I'm considering talking to my doctor about getting a tonsillectomy. Does anyone know if this is medically disqualifying, even though it's really common?

Logged into DODMERB this morning to find that my AFROTC waiver has been denied for asthma. Could someone shed some light on this? I passed my methacholine test with flying colors and have notes from my doctor stating that I do not have asthma. Why was my waiver denied?

USAFA remains the medical waiver authority for the Class of 2024. The new AF medical waiver authority will NOT be implemented for USAFA until the Class of 2025.

Thanks to MidwesternMan for my drilling down in the weeds.

These questions are for @DoDMERB - Deputy Chief or anyone who might know:

1. An applicant has been given a single DQ and then awarded a waiver from two separate SAs with only an applicant statement requested. The third has requested that the applicant see a specialist.

Once the applicant sees the specialist, will the first two SAs (who already provided waivers) automatically be given this new exam information as well, and could they rescind their waivers? Or are those...
