I'm a 100 AFROTC cadet, not on scholarship, and I just received my results from DODMERB, I'm qualified for Airforce CSB (which I don't really know the meaning of) and disqualified for pilots positions for my bad eyesight but can it be waivered, if so how? or has it already been waivered and there's nothing left to do?

Peanut Allergy Oral Challenge?
Good evening,
A bit new to the forum so excuse my lack of terminology that may or may not occur.
For a little background, I am a senior who received a 4 year AROTC scholarship and a 4 year NROTC scholarship. However, I was diagnosed with a peanut allergy. This was around I was 11, and have had zero history of anaphylaxis and was never prescribed an epi-pen. The way I found out? My mom had a "hunch." No allergic reaction or dramatic rush to the hospital. Nothing. Being the rebellious...

DQd Today
My son just received notification that he is DQd due to:
History of airway hyper responsiveness including asthma, reactive airway disease, exercise-
induced bronchospasm or asthmatic bronchitis, after the 13th birthday"
His doc visit states he went in for a cough and wheezing 3 years ago. The notes specifically state "non asthma" and do not list any of the above mentioned conditions. Understand RAD is a sort of catch all term for anything that might be a particular respiratory ailment. He...

Glasses/Contacts
Hi all,
I’m completing the medical history exam on the DODMETS website. I answered “yes” to having a history of wearing glasses, which prompted the following question:
“How many times has "Worn/wear contact lenses or glasses (Bring your eyeglasses no matter how old they are.)" occurred?”
For this question, should I enter the number of times I’ve had to get a different prescription for my sight throughout my life?
Also, it asks me for the diagnosis. Should I just write what my...

Will a USNA requested waiver appear on the portal?
I have been DQ’d medically on one count and my DODMERB status says that I am Under Waiver Review. Because I received an LOA I assume that I will be considered for a waiver by USNA. My question is, will this status appear on my USNA portal?
If anyone has gone through a USNA DQ, around how long did it take to appear in your portal that a waiver has been requested? Thank you!!

Request for Personal Statement
Hi everyone,
I just spoke with the medical tech at DODMERB a month after my initial physical exam, and was told that instead of DQ'ing me, they want a personal statememt regarding my history of scoliosis (no longer have it).
What should I write in this letter? Is it possible I'll get DQ'd after the statement?
Thank you.

AMI results shared with other SA's and ROTC?
My son is sitting at DQ (as expected) for all 3 SA's he is applying to as well as NROTC national scholarship since mid-October for history of cataract (formed by Nerf sword trauma to the eye 8 yrs ago) and subsequent insertion of an artificial intra-ocular lens (IOL).
USMA Admissions says they will definitely request a waiver. USNA says my son won't know if a waiver is requested unless additional info is requested through DODMERB, and USAFA has requested AMI after the DQ of three...

I'm still not old enough to be an applicant yet but I'm wondering, what are some common/recurring medical issues that keep people out of the academies?

USAFA Letter of Assurance Received but still Medically Disqualified
I received a Letter of Assurance from the USAFA this past weekend (I'm not a recruited athlete so this was a pleasant surprise). I am at the moment medically disqualified though, and because of my medical disqualifications West Point said they couldn't waiver me about a month ago, ending my application to West point. A couple of weeks ago I sent in the last of my remedials requested by the USAFA to DoDMERB, which they then forwarded to one of the USAFA's doctors. I was hoping that I received...

DQ'd for mild eczema
My son gets a small rash (the size of a quarter) of dry skin in the bend of his arm during wrestling season which also corresponds to the cold weather season in Germany. It started when he started wrestling his freshman year, but is completely clear when he is not wrestling. After submitting a remedial explaining the above, he was still DQ'd. Is this just the process or what? This seems insane to get disqualified for.

Scheduler Forwarded To DODMERB
My application is now telling me "SCHEDULER FORWARDED TO DODMERB" and to log onto a website to schedule my exam under "YOUR ACTIONS", but I do not know what my login is. What should I do?
*EDIT* I found where to log in. However, it says log in failed and incorrect username and password combination. Do I need to wait a few days?

Rotc being revoked for knee
Son was accepted into rotc Air Force last February 20019 his senior year. Level 3 I believe. Started college been participating last 2 months in PT classes plus extra. He injured his knee resulting in a tear on his ACL end of high school during lacrosse. This has in no way effected his ability’s with rotc yet. He was told that it could heal on its own or need surgery in future. He disclosed this info to his commander with the medical paperwork we have so to maybe have this surgery done in...

Son received a Med DQ
My son had a knee fracture 4 yrs ago that resulted in a surgery and putting back a piece of bone with 2 screws. He went through rehab and once he was cleared he never went back for any issues. I had a feeling this would be coming but I’m so stressed out at what happens now. This can’t be it. He is incredibly physically fit. Anyone going through this now?

DODMERB form
is it a good idea to have my daughters medical records sent to us from all drs she has visited over the years to make sure she fills out the form properly? I am sure I will forget something since I have 3 kids. Or do we just go with what we can remember? Does DODMERB request the medical records of every dr you have seen over the last 16-17 years or just ones you answer yes too. My DD is a junior but we are getting prepared for all of this. Thank you.

USMA letter DQ final w/o waiver?
DS received letter today on portal from the Director of Admissions (below). His DQ is final with no possibility of a waiver UNLESS he wins a slot? Prep school...but “solid achievement” and character? He has one of the physical conditions listed on the non-waiverable list. It’s a long shot for the waiver request to go in, it appears, but do you think if he wins an AROTC scholarship that they’d request one, even with the condition on non-waiverable list?

Waiver Denied for Psoriasis
Hi all,
I was awarded a Type 1 AFROTC scholarship this past Friday (November 15), but was immediately DQ'd for:
1) D112.70 -- History of psoriasis
2) D271.40 -- History of systemic allergic reaction to food or additives
I learned this morning that I had been denied a waiver, called the office and found out that I received a "hard DQ" due to the psoriasis (for which, as it turns out, the Air Force never grants waivers). I plan to appeal this, as I used to have psoriatic arthritis (no...

Journalist looking for people with allergy waivers or DQs for the service academies
I am working on a story about the increase in allergy diagnoses and their effect on military recruitment. If you have received a waiver for a food allergy or were disqualified and would like to speak to me about it, please DM. I realize there are loads of posts on this issue, but the forum rules prohibit me from reaching out directly to those affected without having made at least 5 posts, so I appreciate you bearing with a new topic on the subject.
Thanks in advance.

DODMERB Terms
So I recently obtained a LOA from the Naval Academy, and the only issue holding me back right now is my Medical condition (DQed but seeking a waiver). I recently checked the portal for the 15th time today, and my waiver status switched from "Under Waiver Review" to "Awaiting Receipt of Remedial" to "Under Waiver Review." My question is, what does "Awaiting Receipt of Remedial" mean? and why did it switch back to "Under Waiver Review"? Thank you so much if you guys have an answer!
