My daughter just had a renal ultrasound as a remedial due to surgery she had on her kidney as a baby. She had a clean bill of health at 11 months and has not needed any follow-up since then. The ultrasound showed hydronephrosis on her right kidney even though she has ZERO symptoms. The doctor reading her scans casually mentioned that it is most likely caused by scarring from the previous surgery. Other than saying he would have to report the hydronephrosis, the doctor didn't seem concerned...

Cadre informed DS this morning at PT his medical waiver was granted, two weeks shy of ONE YEAR since his initial medical appointment.
We knew going in to the process he would have to get a medical waiver due to two instances of shoulder dislocation (same shoulder) in high school. We felt fairly confident in that waiver as he was fully medically cleared by his orthopedist and was able to successfully complete the USMA Fitness Test as well as the APFT for Army ROTC. However, we ended up...

Good EVening, I wanted to check on here about the process because I couldn't find the answer in the DODMERB packet. I did my original DODMET Exams in August, I got a letter for DODMERB needing AMI. I went to the appointment and got my results received last week, Wednesday I got DODMERB uner Review as new status instead of waiting for remedial. My question is that since I had to get an AMI request is review for waiver review or something else. I have not recieved a letter from USAFA saying a...

DS had eczema DQ, and waiver denied. School NROTC staff asked for additional documents for appeal. Wondering what should be in the package? Just got doctor’s letter in supporting of MILD & controlled condition? Anything else? Will staff/CO recommend letter and self petition letter also help? Any advice are welcome.

Hello, I am a reapplicant for the USAFA, I wasn't sure to post this on that thread or here, but last year when I applied I was Potential Pilot Qualified. Now that I am applying again (I opened my app in July) and got cleared medically I'd say last month. My current medical status is now only Qualified and not potential pilot qualified. Should I do something about this? Call dodmerb? Will it play a part in my application since I do know the academy is seeking more of PPQ applicants? Also...

I’ve seen the list for Army, but does a non-waiverable list exist for Air Force and Coast Guard? (Sorry I’m posting all over about DQs...I’m a little concerned after USMA closed file without requesting a waiver .... when the main DQ is not accurate in its description of the surgery my DS had. DoDMERB said they had to use that code because, being a new procedure, they didn’t have an appropriate code and had to select the closest thing to it.)

I am currently a Midshipman at USNA and I was told over Plebe Summer that I have Keratoconus.
I did not think too much of it, as I thought it was a common disorder and that people who have it here receive PRK or LASIK before commissioning. Unfortunately, surgery is not recommended for Keratoconus as it could become a liability.. and having a history of Keratoconus or any eye disorder is disqualifying.
I recently got an email about further testing at Walter Reed Medical, where I will be...

Are waivers processed faster during this time of year because there's presumably less volume than say January onward?
P.S. Yeah, yeah, I am prepared to wait until April 15th.

Does anyone know of anyone who got a waiver for eustachian tube dysfunction at USMA? I have one for ROTC but now that I'm re-applying to USMA I don't know if ill get one there. I was DQed for a different medical issue the first time I reapplied to USMA so I don't know how it will go.

Related to my other posts, we think that my daughter's file is now being considered for a waiver because the status switched from "under waiver review" to "under dodmerb review" this afternoon. However, after her DQ last Friday we scheduled a visit to a urologist on our own (first we could get in was today), and she is now scheduled for a MAG3 renal scan tomorrow. The doctor is willing to write a letter for us stating that due to her history (a condition she had as a baby which she had...

Just checked and Dodmet says closed. File has now been submitted to dodmerb and determination will be in 2-4 weeks. However it says to click on a link to follow file on dodmerb.tricare. Won’t the updated status be on the dodmet page or do I have to now register on this tricare page to see any further status?

I filled out my DODMETS medical questionnaire and confirmed my answers however it does not show it as completed. I go to sign it and it says you can’t sign til it’s completed and I go to the survey and it says completed to go sign. Is there some form of verification that needs to happen before it’s done or is the website just crapping itself? How should I go about fixing this?
PS: I’ve tried refreshing, different computers, different browsers, etc

After providing medical records for a remedial request to DoDMERB last week, my DS was medically qualified! I cannot thank this forum enough for all its information and resources. Had I not stumbled upon this forum a year and a half ago, I would have had no idea that a diagnosis from nearly 3 year’s ago would have been a disqualifying condition. As a result, we were able to be proactive in getting additional tests done last year to confirm that my DS did not have this disqualifying condition...

I am 20 years old, planning to start NROTC next fall at Virginia Tech. I pass everything on the checklist (even PT test), but I'm fairly certain my shoulders will medically disqualify me from service. When I was 17 I had a surgical repair done on my left shoulder (arthroscopic, minimally invasive). Exactly one year later, I had an identical surgery done on the other shoulder. Since then, my shoulders have healed to 100 % and I cannot even tell they were ever injured. It does not physically...

Hello, I was just curious, it has been a week and a week and one day since my Medical, Eye, and Ear exams and I was wondering since I am still seeing a incomplete status and not pending should I touch base with the doctors office or should I just wait a couple more days. Thanks!

If you used to have mild acne and it left scars and you used accutane to get rid of it, is that still disqualifying? Even if you don't use it anymore?

What is the typical process for the DoDMERB to handle someone getting wisdom teeth surgery? Is this common for the DoDMERB to have to clear? I will most likely going to need surgery soon, but wanted some insight from anyone who knows more about this.

Dodmerb states qualification determination as qualified. However, on online application shows remedial. Why does it not show qualified like dodmerb states?
