Status on DoDmerb

Question - my son has a link on the Dodmerb sight that shows he is qualified for USAFA and the Military Academy yet the status still shows "Remedial Requested" and "under Dodmerb review" in the status line...We already submitted the remedial hence the Qualified status in the link/letter. We emailed the DoDmerb contact and they confirmed that he is now qualified. Why does the status not update? Should it? Does it just take time? The Service Academy sites haven't updated to Qualified yet...

Frustrated to say the least. My status after the DQ went to Pending Waiver Review/Submission. Then to Awaiting Waiver Requested Remedial Response. We sent all the docs in now status says Pending Waiver Review/Submission again. What does this mean????

My son is a Junior and wants to attend the Naval Academy. He will apply to all of the Academies but really want the USNA. His problem is his ADD/ADHD diagnosis. He was diagnosed during 2nd grade and received a 504 plan. He stopped taking his meds before Jr. High because he wanted to see if he could function on his own. His high school GPA is a 3.9. He hasn't taken his meds since the 5th grade but he kept his 504 plan because the counselors advised us that would be the thing to do. He can...

Possible DodMERB Concern

In May of 2016 I had tubes put in my ears to equalize the pressure, however, the procedure did not work on my right ear and I am getting the same procedure done again only on one ear to equalize the pressure. The tube will take about 9 months to fall out. I am currently a junior in high school, so it will be about 15 months before I go in for the DoDMERB. If the procedure goes well and the tubes fall out before the DoDMERB, will this still disqualify me, specifically for USNA? Thanks.

I really thought my son's remedial package made it clear that he had no asthma symptoms after age 13 (even after age 12). But, he got the DQ anyway.

Can anyone tell me what the next steps are? I had really hoped he could avoid the whole waiver process. Does he need to do something affirmative to initiate that?

He is applying to both the USNA and NROTC.

Sudden status change to does not meet medical standards

For the past couple weeks my status has been “awaiting waiver requested remedial response” and now it has changed to “does not meet medical standards”. There has not been a review of my file since May 24th. Does this mean my waiver is denied?

I recently received a DQ from DODMERB for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. USMA requested a waiver and my DODMERB status changed from DQ to "pending waiver review'. Today, my status changed to "Does not meet medical standards". Does this mean that my waiver has been denied and I have no possible route to be medically qualified?

I was given a "Does not meet medical standards" for

I am currently in the Army (Active Duty) trying to apply for USMA. Another Color Blind Question

I have recently heard that the Navy is/has phased out the FALANT test for color blindness. Does this mean the only test they administer for the DoDMERB is the Isihara, and if you fail that, you will need a waiver? Do they still administer the Optic 900 if you fail the Isihara? Thanks.

Color Blindness and USAF Space Command

We just found out my daughter might have issues with red/green color blindness. She wants nothing more than to work in USAF Space Command though. I've read several posts on here regrading general color blindess and found a list for enlisted AFSC's but nothing for officers. Does anyone know if this is going to be an issue for her or does anyone have a list of officer AFSC's this effects? Does severe red/green cause a DQ for AFROTC? Or only if you want to be a pilot?

When the DODMET doctor checked my eyes he said they were in excess of - 8.00 diopters. I decided to get a second opinion and that optometrist said they were NOT. How do I tell the air force they got the wrong info? Just send the real prescription to the academy?

DODMERB exam packet

I have logged onto DODMETS and completed all portions online. There was one part where it asked that I download a PDF document and present it to my medical examiner. I assume you get the packet filled out and then you mail it in. So I brought the packet to both the Eye and Hearing examinations and they said roughly, "There's no need for us to fill that out, its the same stuff we were given to fill out already." Should they fill out that downloaded packet, or is that an extra step not...

DQ on distant visual acuity

My son just checked the dodmerb website and it shows a pending dq for D155.41 distant visual acuity not correctable to 20/20....the reason we are so confused is that we have the paper from the opthomologist that shows his distance vision is 20/100 but both eyes are correctable to 20/20...and the opthomologist told him all looked great...why is the form marked as yes on correctable to 20/20 yet dodmerb says no?....any ideas?

Today, I have completed everything on the candidate portal except nominations and employee evaluate (I am employed) yet it states no actions for DODMERB. Should I wait a couple of days to see if that status changes or am I required to submit my employee evaluations?

I received two emails today morning from DoDMERB to check my status online. I logged in and saw myself as -
  1. USAFA - Qualified - Potential Pilot Qualified
  2. USMA - Qualified
  3. USNA - Qualified
  4. USCGA - Qualified
Is it all over or there are any further activities to be done? I am not clear if the academies will now ask for any thing further. The more I read the posts the more confusing it gets.

I have been interviewed by all for ROTC as well, I believe the same...

Remedial and private physician

Has anyone used a private physician for your remedial as opposed to the a doctor assigned from Dodmets? The closest doctor Dodmets found is about 2 hours from my house. The website says you can go to a private physician but how does Dodmets get the records from that doctor? Am I supposed to get copies of the medical records before I leave the appointment and send to Dodmets or does the doctor send something directly to Dodmets? Can anyone tell me how it works with a private physician?

DODMERB portal says DODMERB Still Under Review and then under event indicates "Date letter sent - Remedial(s) with clin Remedial(s)" and Code R220.00. DS has not received a letter nor has he received an email. When looking up the Code R220.00, it states that it does not require a physician's appointment but requests all medical records regarding $$$.

Unfortunately, do not know what the remedial request is regarding. He assumes the letter will come at some point but in reading through the...

My DS received a 4yr type 1 AFROTC scholarship back in February 2018. After getting his physical in March he was automatically DQ'd for having 2 ACL surgeries. (Separate ACL surgeries for 2 separate football contact injuries, one his junior year, one his senior year). He rehabbed them, got released from his surgeon in June to resume all physical and normal activities without restrictions. (last surgery was September 2017). We passed all requirements, negative Lachmans test, surpassed all...

Our DS is a freshman and received Type7 AFROTC scholarship . We started with DODMERB a year ago when he was applyyro USAFA. This has been a long and grueling process of waiting and waivers, found out yesterday he is DQd from AFROTC after submitting requested waiver. Now wondering what to Do?

This is to warn the nice folks on this board who are trying to help their son or daughter to avoid DODMERB Consultants which is run by Dr. Glenn Merchant out of Colorado Springs. My wife spoke to this man regarding our son's waiver request. Dr. Merchant seemed very nice and knowledgeable and he had a reputable-looking website. We sent him money and never heard from him again. For over two months now he has not replied to our e-mails or cell phone voicemail. No one picks up his office...
