Two issues my DD had to respond "yes" to was Allergies and Acne. She will be explaining that the allergies to the dried grass and trees was diagnosed 9 years ago when we moved from the city to the suburbs. She adapted quickly and hasn't had an issue in 8 years. Its in her records so had to report it.
she started treatment for Acne with Acutane which is a big No No but dropped it after 6 weeks since it made her feel terrible. Also written in the Dr. Notes.

waivers for anxiety nos

At 15 years old I was diagnosed with anxiety NOS. This was based on concerns my mother brought up to my doctor after my first girl friend broke up with me. She was worried I had some suicidal thoughts (I did not) and wanted me to have some testing. After all the testing the psychiatrist came back with an anxiety NOS diagnosis. Is this an automatic DQ?

use of primary care physician?

Could my DD go to her primary Care physician for her dodMERB? It would be faster and closer, if so. I tried to find the answer on line but couldn't get a straight answer. I thought I would get the answer here!

For some reason, I can't access the dodmets website (is the site down?). Anyways, I have m exam on Wednesday for an army rotc scholarship, but I have no clue what papers to bring to either the exam on Wednesday, or the physical exam on the 16th. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Weight

I recently found the height/weight standards for USNA, where I am applying, and saw that I am under the weight by 2-4 lbs depending on the day. (I'm 74" and the minimum weight is 148) Does anyone know if there is a range for waivers, or if I will be definitely DQd based off of this?

Seeing a psychologist

I am planning on seeing a counselor for depression, among other things. She came highly recommended by friends, who saw her for various reasons.

I think it might be helpful for my son to talk to the psychologist about some issues he's been dealing with for a while (not depression). Do not plan to have him medicated or anything of that sort.

IF he sees her, would this need to be reported for DoDMERB?

How long before on Portal?

Hi everyone,

So I made a mistake and I scheduled my medical exam a couple weeks after they contacted me but I got them done. I checked on DODMETS website and it says that they received my packets but on my Academy portal it says that my status is unknown.

Does this mean that they're still processing it to USAFA? They got my eye exam about a week ago but my physical was received a few weeks back. I don't believe I need a waiver, I was told I did fine on every test.

Rules or Guidelines?

We are new to all this, and of course now DS is facing a DQ. My question: is the 6130.3 document the list of rules, or is it guidelines? As an example, if 6130.3 says a condition is disqualifying unless the applicant has not experienced the condition in more than 2 years, can DODMERB DQ if the condition was more than 2 years ago saying we just want the waiver authority to be aware?

I obviously don't want to go into details on an open forum; I'm just trying to understand if this is normal....

Should we Test for Asthma or Wait ?

My son has started the process of applying to the academies. He has worked very hard to achieve a high percentage of the required skills/scores etc. We recently took him to the Dr. for a simple toe injury (not the reason for this post) and were shocked when the Dr. (new Dr. never seen before) asked him, “how is your asthma”? My wife responded he does not have asthma. After reviewing the chart it appears when he was 7 years old his Dr. diagnosed a sinus infection (or so we think) as asthma....

SOS on Anxiety and DoDMERB for AROTC

Hi all,

I'm currently in the process of trying out AROTC next semester. Only problem is, I also have my DoDMERB coming up in a few weeks, and I'm totally freaking out because I was diagnosed in July with "adjustment disorder with mixed anxiety and depression." This was a normal response after someone sexually violated/traumatized me, which I kept bottled up for 3 years. I was treated by an LPC (counselor/psychologist), and at no point were meds prescribed, nor did I take any during...

Has anyone had a negative experience with them? I have recently contracted the services of Dr. Merchant (DoDMERB Consultants) two weeks ago and I have to say I am very uneasy about it. I had one initial conversation with him and then since then it has been spotty, if anything. I understand he is retired and travels a lot, but he seems to have totally blown us off. My son was disqualified due to a history of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (he has been healthy and symptom free for 8+years). We...

What if you have been going to a psychiatrist since you were 11 and was put on medicine( and still on it) and was also admitted into a mental health center for suicide (which happened 2 years ago) and the psychiatrist says that she has no problem with me going to the military. Would I be disqualified and be able to get a waiver.

Hi,

I recently completed my DODMERB exams and and my status is now "Remedial requested" for low BMI. I was wondering if this is the only remedial they will require, or when I return the required documentation for this remedial will they continue reviewing my file and possibly request more remedials?

Thanks.

DODMERB not showing USNA

On my DODMERB portal, it shows my status for both USMA and USAFA not USNA. I have an open application for USNA that still says it requires my medical evaluation, however I do not know how to get the DODMERB to recognize that I am applying to USNA. If anyone has any help or similar experiences please let me know.

Thanks

The physician that we were assigned is not covered by our insurance, can we request a different one or do we just have to pay for the exam in full?

Pending Waiver

My son is applying to USMA and USNA. His DODMERB status today changed to: "R250.00 Pending Waiver review by USMA." He had shoulder surgery last November on a torn labrum. His shoulder is fine now, we submitted all the required documents from his shoulder surgeon. We were told the surgery would initially DQ him and we would have to apply for a waiver. What does "Pending Waiver Review" mean?

Waivers for the Coast Guard academy

I fail the DODMERB requirements for hearing and I am trying to find the branches I am eligible to commission in. I recently found out that the Navy or Marine Corps does not waive hearing loss for officers. I have been looking into the Coast Guard Academy and can't find a definitive answer to what medical disqualifications they find waiver-able. I have asked my admissions officer, but he did not seem to know. Has anyone recently had experience getting hearing loss waived in any branch....

Do I only have to take DODMERB once?

DS has taken DODMERB exam for USNA and been found Medically Qualified. Now USMA is ordering DODMERB. Can USMA use USNA's DODMERB results, or does he need to do it again? I thought I read somewhere on this forum that you only need to take DODMERB exam once, and that all SA's and ROTC'S can use the same results.

Lazy Eye/ Vision

Hi all,

I had a lazy eye as a child and had corrective surgeries, so now my eyes are almost perfectly aligned and cause no issues. Also, my eyes are correctable to 20/20 and my prescription is not strong (less than the max of +/- 8). However, my eyes are not able to see 3D (such as 3D images or movies made to look like they pop out, not three dimensional objects in real life). It does not affect me at all. Will there be any issues with my past lazy eye or other eye conditions?

Any help is...
